Prayers for an 18-year-old who is facing cancer for the third time, and her strength is moving people to stand with her now.

Mayla is an 18-year-old who has been fighting rhabdomyosarcoma for five years. She was first diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2021 at 13 years old. She reached remission in 2023 after treatment. The cancer returned in 2024, and she pushed through again to reach remission in 2025. Just 2 months before her high school graduation, she was diagnosed again as the cancer spread to multiple areas.

Her family shared that they have watched her face each diagnosis with courage. Treatment will include both chemotherapy and radiation at the same time. Radiation is set to take place Monday through Friday at UC Davis in Sacramento for several weeks. Chemotherapy will follow multiple times each month. They said, "She keeps pushing forward every time. We are grateful for every prayer and every bit of support."

On April 7, 2026, Dr. Tyneil Cargill, a respected doctor at Bay Street Medical in the Bahamas, received a diagnosis that quickly turned into a call for community support. He's a physician known for serving thousands of people across The Bahamas and was diagnosed with multiple cancerous lesions on his left lung.

Dr. Cargill’s family said, "My father was diagnosed with multiple cancerous lesions on his left lung." One lesion affected his airway and made breathing harder. Doctors said the situation was urgent. Surgery was scheduled for April 13, 2026 at Doctors Hospital. Dr. Duane Sands led the procedure. The goal was to remove the affected areas while protecting vital organs in the chest.

In an update on his GoFundMe page, his family later said, "He is out of surgery and recovering well." They thanked the medical team for their care. Recovery will take time and includes hospital care, therapy, and ongoing treatment. Monthly immunotherapy and home care may exceed $30,000 each month for up to two years. The hospital means a lot to Rucker and he now serves on the board. His mother Carolyn G. Rucker was a nurse at MUSC, and the hospital later established a nursing scholarship in her name. In 1992, she passed of a heart attack, according to the Associated Press.

Ms. Shirley Raines grew up in Compton, California, and she knew what it was like to struggle and face immense loss. While her 2-year-old son Demetrius was staying at her grandmother's house in 1990, he died from an accidental poisoning. She carried that grief for over a decade, and she would eventually find herself homeless on Skid Row in Los Angeles, California.

In 2017, Ms. Shirley joined her church group and handed out free meals to people on Skid Row. And while serving meals, she came face to face with people living on the same streets where she had once lived and felt hopeless. That' where she got the idea to start "Beauty 2 The Streetz," a nonprofit that provided meals, hygiene supplies, haircuts, and makeup to people many had forgotten about. She regularly passed out food to people in the community and transformed countless lives for the better.

Ms. Shirley started posting videos of the interactions she had with the people on Skid Row, and pretty soon she had millions of followers who were deeply moved by the love and dignity she showed. She wasn’t just doing charity work. She was setting a powerful example of what it means to help others, especially those on the streets who often feel invisible. In her videos, she greeted everyone as "King" or "Queen," and it took a while to earn their trust. But every Saturday, Ms. Shirley would be right there with her cheerful smile and warm energy.

On January 27, 2026, Ms. Shirley passed away at 58 years old. Many people in the country are one missed paycheck or one setback away from living on the streets. Showing kindness and compassion to others, just like Ms. Shirley did for all those years, is what reminds all of us what it truly means to be human. We honor her legacy by remembering her name.

By September 2024, the company came out of bankruptcy and had a fresh start under new ownership and his leadership.

Even though the challenge was difficult, Damola wasn't afraid. He brought the same hope and energy that helped him lead P.F. Chang's. At Red Lobster, he is doing everything he can to make the brand shine again. Damola is focusing on better food, friendlier service and brighter restaurants. Now there are real signs it's working. Sales are up about 10% year over year, younger customers are coming back, and overall sentiment is improving.

Damola started his career as an intern at Goldman Sachs in 2008. He then studied economics at Brown University and later attended Harvard Business School. In an interview, he said, "There are people who are born and raised to do this, and they're taught at a young age. I didn't come from that world. I was teaching myself in high school and college… You have to become the person you need to be."
