The Anne Klein Women’s Award honors women who demonstrate exceptional commitment to gender democracy, women’s rights, and social justice, often in challenging political and social contexts, and recognizes courageous feminist leadership with lasting impact.
With more than 30 years of experience as a feminist coach and gender expert, Awa Fall-Diop has made an extraordinary contribution to advancing women’s and girls’ empowerment, sexual and reproductive health rights, participatory practices, and feminist movement building across West Africa. She has supported major feminist organizations, public institutions, and international partners throughout the region.
From grassroots education to national leadership including her role as, Minister for Relations with National and Sub-Regional Parliamentary Institutions in Senegal, her career reflects a deep, lifelong commitment to gender justice and democratic participation.
This award honors not only her personal leadership, but also the sustained efforts of feminist networks and allies in Senegal and beyond. We congratulate the Dakar Office for its continued dedication to these shared values.
