🇨🇿🇱🇾 On 1-2 April 2026, the first Consultation on Joint Communication and Information Exchange Centres (JCIECs) on border management was organised under the Czech-funded project “Advancing Libya’s Border Security and Management – Phase 2 ( )” in Tunis.
The event brought together Libyan representatives from across institutional and geographical lines, including border management stakeholders from Tripoli and Benghazi, as well as colleagues from the Security Institutions Service (SIS) of UNSMIL - United Nations Support Mission in Libya, and expertise from Czechia.
During the consultation, participants discussed their needs and expectations for the functioning and mandates of the Centres and had the opportunity to exchange with the Czech representatives on the development of the Czech National Border Protection Situation Centre as an important case study.
By the end of the event, also attended by the Czech Ambassador in Tunisia and Libya, H.E. Richard Kadlčák, participants identified and agreed on concrete training needs to develop the capacities of JCIECs staff and its strategic leadership, with the view to supporting inter-agency coordination and the gradual development of shared situational awareness.
