Sunset season at Jansom Bay.

Did you know the sunset here changes with the seasons?

When you CAN see sunset from the beach:
March through October (about 8 months of the year)

When you CANNOT see sunset from the beach:
November through February (about 4 months)

Right now in early February, the sun sets behind the hills. Still beautiful, just different.

Why does this happen?

Jansom Bay faces west. Throughout the year, the sun's setting position shifts north and south along the horizon.

From March to October, the sun sets over the water - anywhere from due west to northwest. You get the full show right from the beach.

From November to February, the sun sets more southwest. It disappears behind the land before reaching the water.

Best months for "Sunset @ Jansom Bay":
April through September, with peak visibility around March-April and September-October when the sun sets almost exactly due west.

We've watched this beach for 24 years. Every season has its own beauty.

Come for the sunset season. Or come when it's quieter. Either way, Jansom Bay shows you something worth seeing.

**Jansom Bay is not your ashtray. It's not your trash bin.**

We found cigarette butts in the sand this morning. Plastic wrappers left behind. Bottles discarded.

Our 4-person team cleans this beach every single day. They pick up after people who don't think twice about what they're leaving behind.

Here's the thing:

This isn't just "litter." It's disrespect - to the environment, to the people cleaning up after you, and to everyone else who comes here to enjoy nature.

Cigarette butts don't disappear. They break down into microplastics that poison the ocean. Plastic wrappers kill marine life. Your "one piece of trash" multiplied by hundreds of visitors becomes a crisis.

We're not here to police you.

We're here to ask you to be mindful:
- Take your trash with you
- Use the bins we provide
- Cigarette butts go in proper disposal - not the sand
- Leave the beach better than you found it

Our team shouldn't have to clean up after grown adults who know better.

This beach has survived 24 years because people cared for it.

Don't be the reason it stops being beautiful.

Payment for Environmental Service (PES) for Jansom Bay
Why we charge 100 THB for beach access.
When we regained control of Charm Churee Villa in August 2025, we found something heartbreaking: 4 staff members who had been abandoned by corrupt management. No pay. No support. Just left to survive on their own.
But they stayed. And every single day, they kept Jansom Bay clean.
While the resort crumbled around them, they picked up trash. They cleared the beach. They protected the natural environment - not because anyone was paying them, but because they cared.
That's why we have a 100 THB conservation fee for day visitors.
It's not about profit. It's about dignity.
It's Payment for Environmental Services (PES) - your 100 baht directly supports the people who:
Clean the beach daily
Manage waste properly
Protect the natural landscape
Keep Jansom Bay pristine
These 4 workers chose to stay and care for this place when they had every reason to walk away. Now we're making sure they're paid for that care.
For our staying guests: Beach access is included in your room rate. You're already supporting this conservation through your stay.
For day visitors: Your 100 baht means someone gets paid fairly for the work they do to keep this beach beautiful.
This is what sustainable tourism looks like. Not just protecting the environment - but protecting the people who protect the environment.
Clean beaches don't happen by accident. They happen because someone cares enough to do the work.

Starting 2026, we're implementing daily visitor limits at Jansom Bay.
Why?
Because we love this bay too much to love it to death.
Jansom Bay isn't just a beautiful beach—it's a living ecosystem. The coral, the fish, the water quality, the beach itself... they all have a carrying capacity. Push past that limit, and we destroy the very thing that makes this place special.
We've watched too many Thai beaches go from paradise to parking lot. We refuse to let that happen here.
What this means:
Daily visitor limits based on the bay's ecological carrying capacity
Advance booking recommended
Priority for resort guests and mindful travelers
Better experience for everyone (less crowded, more pristine)
This isn't about exclusivity. This is about sustainability.
We'd rather have fewer visitors who truly appreciate and respect this bay than unlimited crowds who treat it like a commodity.
