Saturday morning Elephant Valley life

It’s with great sadness, I must inform you all that due to the Covid19 pandemic, Elephant Valley Thailand will be closing down. We have decided that with the uncertainty over how many and also when our visitors will return, its simply not financially feasible to keep going. We feel it’s better for our staff and elephants that we stop operations now, so we can do so in an orderly and responsible manner.

What does this mean? Well, it means we will have to soon find our elephants new homes and our amazing staff will have to find new jobs. After 5 years of hard work this is incredibly sad for us and we are proud of everything we have achieved but we just cannot afford to continue.

To all of our past visitors and supporters and on behalf of the entire Elephant Valley team we want to say a huge thankyou for everybodys invaluable support and hard work. We really couldn’t have got this far without such amazing fans.

To all of the Elephant Valley Thailand Team; Be proud of what we built. It was beautiful, gave us engaging work, challenged us all and sets the standard for elephant care long into the future. To work with you all was a privilage and stories will be told about the past 5 years for many years to come. Unfortunately we have to stop work, eventually part, but we will meet again.

Stay safe and be nice to elephants.

Jack Highwood

If anyone wants to further continue to help elephants then there is only one place to do it : our sister sanctuary in Cambodia is in dire need of funds and donations and contributions are needed :

For 3 months now our neighbours who have 13 elephants have had no customers so we have been helping to feed them. Not everyday but whenever we can. Currently we have a lot of pineapple to rip out and replace with bana/elephant grass so will be farming more out over next month. Got to get rid of all this pineapple somehow!

A big storm rolled in and crashed into the EVT last night. Knocked down a bunch of outbuildings and trees and ripped off some roofs. Luckily all the elephants and half the staff are at safari and those who were on site here where unharmed but a bit shaken! Today the air is clean and fresh but we will have to spend a few weeks to repair everything and fix it all up. Still nobody hurt which is the main thing.
