📌 Abstract: This presentation explores the role of music and the arts in peacebuilding processes in post-conflict Colombia, focusing on the city of Quibdó in the Colombian Pacific region. Following the 2016 peace agreement between the Colombian government and the FARC guerrilla group, many territories experienced a power vacuum that intensified urban violence among vulnerable youth populations.
Drawing on participatory action research conducted in communities affected by forced displacement, poverty, and territorial conflict, this work examines how collaborative artistic initiatives—including projects using music, rap, social mapping, storytelling, and environmental awareness—can foster dialogue, challenge violent imaginaries, and create alternative futures for youth vulnerable to gang recruitment.
