From August 31 to September 4, 2026, officials from the Farm Household Socio-Economic and Agricultural Insurance Research Division, Bureau of Agricultural Economic Research, conducted a field visit to monitor household socio-economic conditions and agricultural product insurance. During the mission, the team interviewed various key stakeholders, including officials from the Chanthaburi Provincial Office of Agricultural Extension and the Khao Khitchakut District Office of Agricultural Extension, the President of the Thai Durian Association, village headmen, the Chairman of the Khlung Agricultural Cooperative, and the President of the Rayong Durian Planters Confederation. Discussions were also held with the Wang Chan District Agricultural Extension Officer, local durian farmers, and chairpersons of Large-Scale Agricultural Plot groups. The field visits covered Mueang Chanthaburi, Khlung, Na Yai Am, and Khao Khitchakut districts in Chanthaburi Province, as well as Klaeng and Wang Chan districts in Rayong Province. The objective of this field visit was to monitor the current status of durian insurance, identify preferred insurance formats, and gather feedback on existing policies. The team also collected data on natural disasters and disease outbreaks affecting durian yields. The insights gained will be used to formulate policy recommendations to develop more comprehensive insurance schemes that better meet farmers' needs, serving as foundational data for further promoting and enhancing durian insurance systems.
