เมื่อวันที่ 17 สิงหาคม 2569 นายศรัณย์ เจริญสุวรรณ ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ พบหารือกับคณะสมาชิกรัฐสภาสหรัฐฯ ประกอบด้วย สส. Sylvia Garcia พรรคเดโมแครต รัฐเท็กซัส และ สส. Lucy McBath พรรคเดโมแครต รัฐจอร์เจีย พร้อมด้วยนาง Tami Overby รองประธานสถาบัน U.S. – Asia Institute ในโอกาสคณะสมาชิกรัฐสภาสหรัฐฯ เยือนประเทศไทยระหว่างวันที่ 15–20 สิงหาคม 2569 ตามคำเชิญของกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ โดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน
ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีฯ กล่าวต้อนรับคณะสมาชิกรัฐสภาสหรัฐฯ ซึ่งเดินทางเยือนประเทศไทยเป็นครั้งแรก และย้ำว่า ไทยให้ความสำคัญกับบทบาทของรัฐสภาสหรัฐฯ ในการส่งเสริมความเป็นพันธมิตรและความเป็นหุ้นส่วนทางยุทธศาสตร์ที่ยาวนานระหว่างไทยกับสหรัฐฯ โดยทั้งสองประเทศมีความร่วมมืออย่างรอบด้าน ทั้งในระดับทวิภาคี ระดับภูมิภาค และระหว่างประเทศ
คณะสมาชิกรัฐสภาสหรัฐฯ กล่าวขอบคุณสำหรับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นของฝ่ายไทย ซึ่งการมาเยือนประเทศไทยเป็นโอกาสให้เรียนรู้ทำความเข้าใจและหารือแนวทางส่งเสริมความเป็นพันธมิตรและความเป็นหุ้นส่วนระหว่างไทยกับสหรัฐฯ ได้แน่นแฟ้นยิ่งขึ้น ในบริบทสถานการณ์ระหว่างประเทศที่มีความไม่แน่นอน
ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือไทย-สหรัฐฯ โดยผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีฯ ย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของไทยในการเจรจาความตกลงการค้ากับสหรัฐฯ ให้มีข้อสรุปโดยเร็ว และการทำให้ความเป็นหุ้นส่วนทางเศรษฐกิจระหว่างกันมีความสมดุลมากขึ้น การปราบปรามอาชญากรรมข้ามชาติ การต่อต้านเครือข่ายหลอกลวงออนไลน์ในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ รวมถึงการหารือเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์ในภูมิภาค และสถานการณ์ไทย-กัมพูชา
คณะสมาชิกรัฐสภาสหรัฐฯ ยังได้พบหารือกับบุคคลสำคัญระดับสูงและผู้แทนภาคส่วนอื่น ๆ ของไทย อาทิ รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงพาณิชย์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม ผู้แทนการค้าไทย ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงพาณิชย์ ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงการคลัง ปลัดกระทรวงกลาโหม รองผู้บัญชาการตำรวจแห่งชาติ ผู้ว่าราชการกรุงเทพมหานคร ตลอดจนนักวิชาการ ผู้แทนภาคเอกชนไทยและสหรัฐฯ ผู้แทนภาคประชาสังคมในประเด็นการต่อต้านการค้ามนุษย์และการคุ้มครองเด็กและสตรี และผู้แทนศูนย์ Anti-Cyber Scam Center
On 17 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with the U.S. Congressional delegation, comprising Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) and Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA), together with Ms. Tami Overby, Vice President of the U.S.-Asia Institute, on the occasion of the visit of the U.S. Congressional delegation to Thailand from 15–20 August 2026 at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.
The Vice Minister welcomed the U.S. Members of Congress, who visited Thailand for the first time, stressing that Thailand attaches importance to the role of the U.S. Congress in strengthening the longstanding alliance and strategic partnership between Thailand and the U.S. at bilateral as well as regional and international levels.
The U.S. Members of Congress expressed appreciation for the warm welcome by the Thai side and were pleased to pay a visit to gain a better understanding of Thailand and discuss ways to deepen the Thai-U.S. alliance and partnership in view of the changing international landscape.
Both sides exchanged views on strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Thailand and the U.S. The Vice Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s determination to conclude trade negotiations with the U.S. at the earliest opportunity and to promote a more balanced economic partnership, as well as to enhance cooperation on combating transnational crimes and online scam networks in Southeast Asia. Both sides also exchanged views on key regional developments, including the Thailand-Cambodia situation.
The Congressional delegation also met with other high-level officials and representatives of various sectors, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Minister of Industry, Thai Trade Representative, Vice Minister for Commerce, Vice Minister for Finance, Permanent Secretary for Defence, Deputy Police Commissioner-General, Governor of Bangkok, as well as Thai academics, representatives of the Thai and U.S. private sectors, representatives of civil society organizations who work on issues related to combating human trafficking and protection of women and children, and representatives of the Anti-Cyber Scam Center.
