Az új vezetés célkitűzéseivel összhangban még nagyobb hangsúlyt fektetünk arra, hogy támogassuk a kezdeményezéseiket, erősítsük a gazdasági kapcsolatokat, és hatékony hidat képezzünk az anyaország és Önök között.

Önök, akik itt élnek és dolgoznak, Magyarország legjobb nagykövetei a mindennapokban. Sikereikkel, szorgalmukkal és a magyar kultúra ápolásával elismerést vívnak ki hazánknak.

20 August is Hungary's most important national holiday. It is at once a tribute to the legacy of Saint Stephen, the founder of the state, an occasion to remember Hungarian history — and an opportunity to go on writing the country's story together.
Augusztus 20. Magyarország legfontosabb nemzeti ünnepe. Egyszerre tisztelgés Szent István államalapító öröksége előtt, alkalom, hogy emlékezzünk a magyar történelemre – és lehetőség, hogy közösen tovább írjuk az ország történetét.
Augusztus 20. jelmondata idén a partnerség és a nyitottság, a közös múltban rejlő érték, és az ígéret, hogy a hagyományainkból építkezve együtt formálhatjuk Magyarország jövőjét. Mert mi magunk vagyunk az ország története.

Yesterday, we held a lively orientation event at our embassy for Thai students who are due to begin their studies in Hungary this September. Participants in the Hungarian Stipendium Hungaricum and the European Union’s Erasmus+ scholarship programmes, the ASF intercultural programme, as well as self-funded students, were welcomed by Ambassador Szilvia, Khun Pojjana Paniangvait, Chair of Hungarian-Thai Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Phanomkwan Devahastin Na Ayudhaya, the Thai Consul in Budapest. This was followed by a presentation on Hungary given by diplomats from our diplomatic mission and two alumni of ELTE, Ms. Khantavichai Ponnapa and Ms. Sriprommunee Mira, which was followed by a lively Q&A session.
We would like to thank the students for their active participation and wish them all successful studies and lifelong experiences in Hungary. We hope that, through their future professional activities, they will build bridges between our countries!

Ambassador Szilvia and the diplomats of our embassy were honored to attend the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) Presidents’ Council Luncheon, hosted by the Hungarian-Thai Chamber of Commerce (Huncham) at Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok.

During the meeting, the President of Huncham, Mrs. Pojjana Paniangvait, highlighted that although Huncham is the youngest among the foreign chambers in Thailand, it has already achieved outstanding results and continues to show strong potencial. In her speech, Ambassador Szilvia emphasized the importance of further deepening Hungarian-Thai economic and commercial cooperation and highlighted the strategic opportunities Hungarian innovative technologies offer.

These monthly Presidents' Council Luncheons are hosted in turn by different member chambers, and this Huncham-hosted meeting met with high interest among the participants. Thank you to JFCCT and Huncham for organizing such a fruitful meeting!

On August 13, former Austrian Ambassador and historian Wilhelm M. Donko was bestowed the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria at a reception held at the Austrian Ambassador's residence.
Warmest congratulations on this distinguished honour!
Aside from his diplomatic career, Ambassador (ret.) Wilhelm M. Donko is known for his historical writings and books focusing on maritime and imperial history, including topics related to the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He co-authored the book 'A Moment in Time: The Journey from Austria-Hungary to Siam through the Lens of Wilhelm Burger', which highlights the 155-year diplomatic relations between Austria-Hungary and Siam through historic photographs taken by pioneering photographer Wilhelm Burger during his 1869 visit.
The event was hosted by H.E. Ms. Katharina Wieser, Ambassador of Austria to Thailand, and Dr. Michael Wieser-Much.

Chargé d’affaires a.i. Mrs. Katalin Böszörményi-Nagy represented our embassy at the 'Southern Heritage' diplomatic and trade program, which provided a valuable opportunity to discuss current issues in bilateral relations with Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, H.E. Suphajee Suthumpun.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce led ambassadors and representatives from 15 countries on a visit to a quality fruit-growing area in Surat Thani under the “Thailand: The Land of Tropical Fruits” initiative, highlighting Thailand’s diverse tropical fruits and promoting new opportunities for trade, tourism, and international demand through the concept of “Fruit Tourism.”
The event featured a symbolic tree planting activity to mark diplomatic bonds and agricultural cooperation.

Hungary's parliament elected András Baka, the former head of the Supreme Court, as President of the Republic on August 11.
Baka, the candidate of the ruling Tisza Party, was elected head of state with 140 votes in favour and 6 against in a secret ballot.
Parliament elected a new president after former President Tamás Sulyok's mandate ended on July 20 following the 17th amendment to the Fundamental Law. Ágnes Forsthoffer, the speaker of parliament, has been exercising the rights of president since then.
András Baka will assume office on the eighth day following the announcement of the election result.
Expressing the unity of the nation first and foremost means political neutrality, but it must never mean neutrality on values, Hungary's newly elected President said in his speech to parliament on Tuesday. As president, Baka said, he must represent this diverse community and always acknowledge the legitimacy of differing views, as well as the right of both majority and minority positions to be heard. The president's role, he said, was not to manufacture consensus where none exists, but to represent the idea that "citizens with differing views are equal members of the same nation."

We are delighted to share the news that Wittawin Panta, alumnus of Eötvös Loránd University International and former participant of the programme, has presented the opportunities and the scholarship programme to 10-12 grade students in his former secondary school, Chakkam Khanathon in Lamphun Province.
We are proud that the Thai members of the , through their active involvement, are helping to encourage more and more Thai students to take an interest in furthering their studies in Hungary.
