Thailand’s OECD accession journey is a whole-of-government endeavour. This week, Ambassador Kang hosted an OECD Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP) alumni reception with attendees from four MAP masterclasses.

Australia is proud to have supported OECD knowledge-sharing and exchanges between Thai partners, Australian agencies, and other countries. We were honoured to welcome Director-General Rujikorn Saengchantr from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Guest of Honour, highlighting the priority Thailand places on its OECD accession goal.

ท่านทูต พาโบล เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานเลี้ยงรับรองเพื่อสร้างเครือข่ายทางธุรกิจ เปิดโอกาสให้บริษัทด้านผลิตภัณฑ์อาหารเสริมและโภชนเภสัชจากออสเตรเลีย ได้พบปะกับภาคธุรกิจ ผู้ซื้อ และพันธมิตรจากไทย เพื่อสำรวจโอกาสทางธุรกิจในตลาดสุขภาพและเวลเนสของไทยที่กำลังเติบโต

This week, our embassy in collaboration with Complementary Medicines Australia welcomed 40 representatives from 24 Australian companies as part of the Australian Vitafoods business delegation to Thailand.

Ambassador Kang hosted a networking reception at his residence, bringing Australian complementary medicine and nutraceutical companies together with Thai businesses, buyers and partners to explore opportunities in Thailand’s growing health and wellness market.

At Vitafoods Asia 2026, seven Australian companies showcased their products and capabilities at the Australia Pavilion alongside a broader Australian exhibitor presence across the event. Together, they highlighted Australia’s strengths in trusted, high-quality complementary medicines, nutraceutical ingredients and health innovation.

สถานทูตออสเตรเลียได้ต้อนรับเจ้าหน้าที่จาก TICA Cooperation กรมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ จำนวน 19 ท่าน รวมถึงคุณอรุณี ไฮม์ม รองอธิบดีกรมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ เข้าร่วมการอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการด้านการบริหารความเสี่ยงในด้านความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนา

กิจกรรมนี้จัดขึ้นต่อเนื่องจากการหารือด้านความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนาระหว่างออสเตรเลียและไทยที่จัดขึ้นเมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ โดยมุ่งเน้นการแลกเปลี่ยนแนวทางว่าการบริหารความเสี่ยงที่ดีสามารถช่วยให้โครงการพัฒนาต่าง ๆ มีประสิทธิภาพ โปร่งใส และสร้างผลลัพธ์ที่ยั่งยืนได้อย่างไร

การอบรมครั้งนี้ดำเนินการฝึกอบรมโดย Dr Stephen McElhinney จากกระทรวงต่างประเทศและการค้าออสเตรเลีย เป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการบริหารความเสี่ยงด้านการพัฒนา และเคยศึกษาด้านการพัฒนาในประเทศไทยตั้งแต่ช่วงเริ่มต้นอาชีพเมื่อปี 2536 เรื่องราวของเขา สะท้อนถึงความสัมพันธ์อันแน่นแฟ้นระหว่างประชาชนของทั้งสองประเทศ ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานสำคัญของความร่วมมือด้านการพัฒนาระหว่างออสเตรเลียและไทย

The Australian Embassy recently welcomed 19 colleagues from Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), including Deputy Director-General Arunee Hiam, for a practical workshop on risk management in development cooperation.

Building on the recent Australia-Thailand Development Dialogue, the session explored how strong risk management supports effective, accountable and sustainable development programs.

The workshop was facilitated by DFAT’s Dr Stephen McElhinney, who is a development risk management expert and studied development in Thailand at the beginning of his career in 1993. His story is a reminder of the strong people-to-people links that sit at the heart of our Australia-Thailand development partnership.

Thank you to TICA colleagues for their active participation and thoughtful discussion. We value our continued partnership in support of high-quality development cooperation in the Mekong subregion.

🔎 การเสริมสร้างทักษะเชิงเทคนิคของพนักงานสืบสวนถือเป็นกุญแจสำคัญในการดำเนินคดีอาชญากรรมข้ามชาติอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

สัปดาห์ที่แล้ว ตำรวจสหพันธ์ออสเตรเลีย (Australian Federal Police: AFP) ได้ร่วมมือกับสำนักงานพิสูจน์หลักฐานตำรวจสำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติ จัดการอบรมเชิงลึกด้านการตรวจพิสูจน์ลายนิ้วมือให้แก่เจ้าหน้าที่สืบสวนจำนวน 15 คนจากประเทศไทย 🇹🇭 และ 5 คนจากประเทศลาว 🇱🇦

การอบรมจัดขึ้น ณ ห้อง Australia Room ศูนย์ฝึกอบรมนิติวิทยาศาสตร์ ของสำนักงานพิสูจน์หลักฐานตำรวจ จังหวัดลำปาง และเป็นการอบรมครั้งที่ 3 ที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนภายใต้โครงการความร่วมมือประเทศลุ่มน้ำโขง-ออสเตรเลีย ว่าด้วยเรื่่องการต่่อต้านอาชญากรรมข้ามชาติ หรือ MAP-TNC เป็นครั้งแรกที่กระทรวงป้องกันความสงบ สปป.ลาว เข้าร่วมการอบรม ซึ่งจะมีส่วนช่วยเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือของประเทศในภูมิภาคในการร่วมกันป้องกันและปราบปรามอาชญากรรมข้ามชาติ

นับตั้งแต่พ.ศ. 2567 เป็นต้นมา เจ้าหน้าที่พิสูจน์หลักฐานกว่า 50 คน จาก 18 จังหวัดทั่วประเทศไทย ได้รับประโยชน์จากการเข้าร่วมการอบรมที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากโครงการ MAP-TNC ณ ศูนย์ฝึกอบรมแห่งนี้ 🇦🇺 🤝 🇹🇭

🔎 Building investigative technical skills is key to effective prosecutions.

Last week, the Australian Federal Police in partnership with the Royal Thai Police Office of Forensic Science (RTP OFS), hosted a workshop with 15 🇹🇭 and 5 🇱🇦 investigators deep-dive into fingerprint investigations.

The workshop was held at the RTP facility in Lampang, and was the third workshop funded through the Mekong-Australia Partnership on Transnational Crime . It was the first time that the Lao PDR Ministry of Public Security participated, which further strengthens our regional efforts to combat transnational crime.

Since 2024, more than 50 forensic investigators from 18 provinces across Thailand have benefited from funded training opportunities at the facility. 🇦🇺 🤝 🇹🇭

Creative Australia ร่วมกับ UNSW Galleries เมืองซิดนีย์ และ SAC Residency จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ขอเชิญศิลปินผู้สนใจส่งใบสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการ Debra Porch Award ซึ่งเป็นโครงการที่มุ่งส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระยะยาวทางด้านศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมระหว่างออสเตรเลียและไทย

ศิลปินชาวออสเตรเลีย 1 ท่าน และศิลปินชาวไทย 1 ท่าน จะได้รับทุนสนับสนุนให้เข้าร่วมโครงการพำนักศิลปินแบบแลกเปลี่ยนซึ่งกันและกัน

Applications are now open for the Debra Porch Award 2027: Visual Arts Residency.

Creative Australia, in partnership with UNSW Galleries (Sydney) and SAC Residency (Chiang Mai) are inviting applications for the Debra Porch Award 2027, an award that seeks to foster long-term artistic and cultural connections between Australia and Thailand.

One Australian artist and one Thai artist will be supported to undertake reciprocal residencies.

The award is in honour of Debra Porch, an Australian artist whose practice focused on memory, mortality and the relationship between presence and absence. Working and teaching during art residencies in our neighbouring regions were vital in her art, work and life.

Thai-Australian artist Nathan Beard has been awarded Australia's National Photographic Portrait Prize for a portrait of his elderly Thai aunt.
Through a faceless image, Beard conveys both strength and vulnerability, honouring family, memory and the enduring bonds that connect generations across cultures.

Mae Khong always wondered why her nephew Nathan Beard found her so fascinating to photograph.

“She always thought it was silly that someone would think her worthy of that sort of status,” Australian Thai artist Beard said.

Mae was an influential figure in Beard’s life, helping foster his sense of cultural pride and belonging.

Earlier this year, Beard was with Mae in Thailand when she suffered a fall at home. That evening, despite what had happened, “she insisted … to bathe herself, and to do so independently”.

Beard captured the quiet moment without showing her face.

“You might look at it and see one of your loved ones,” the National Portrait Gallery’s Isobel Parker Philip said of the image.

Mae died in July, before finding out the portrait had won Australia's $30,000 National Photographic Portrait Prize.

“It is bittersweet being recognised for the award because it’s sort of a final gift of hers to me,” Beard said.

The image is among 30 finalists selected in this year's National Photographic Portrait Prize from more than 1,000 entries.

ในสัปดาห์นี้ ประธานสภาผู้แทนราษฎรออสเตรเลีย นายมิลตัน ดิก เดินทางเยือนกรุงเทพ นับเป็นการเยือนประเทศไทยอย่างเป็นทางการครั้งแรกของประธานสภาผู้แทนราษฎรออสเตรเลีย โดยในการเยือนครั้งนี้ ประธานสภาฯ ดิก ได้เข้าพบหารือกับผู้นำระดับสูงหลายท่าน รวมถึง นายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกูล นายกรัฐมนตรีภายหลังการเยือนออสเตรเลียอย่างเป็นทางการของท่านนายกฯเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา

Australian Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon Milton Dick MP, visited Bangkok this week - the first official visit to Thailand ever by an Australian Speaker. The Speaker had a range of high-level meetings, including with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, following his official visit to Australia last week.

The Speaker said the Australia-Thailand relationship is grounded in decades of cooperation and reinforced by strong links between governments, institutions and communities. He met with parliamentary leaders, including Speaker of the House Mr Sophon Zaram, President of the Senate Mr Mongkol Surasajja, and First Deputy Speaker Mallika Jirapunvanit. He also delivered an address to members of King Prajadhipok's Institute Democratic Governance Course and connected with officials from the Election Commission of Thailand. The Speaker also chaired a roundtable with inspiring Thai women leaders from across the political spectrum.

Australia and Thailand are both members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which facilitates parliamentary diplomacy and promotes peace, democracy and sustainable development around the world.
