🇰🇭🇳🇱𝐄𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐮𝐬+ 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

A recent reception hosted by the European Union in Thailand celebrated the achievements of Cambodian Erasmus+ awardees.

Among the awardees, Mr. Taing Yulong will pursue a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, before continuing his studies at the University of Turku in Finland through the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Digital Master’s Programme.

The Embassy of the Netherlands congratulates Mr. Taing Yulong on this achievement and wishes him every success in his academic journey in Europe.

📍 Afspraak maken voor een bewijs van in leven zijn
Voor het laten ondertekenen van uw voorbedrukte bewijs van in leven zijn (SVB of pensioenfonds) is voortaan een afspraak nodig. Het is niet langer mogelijk om hiervoor zonder afspraak bij de ambassade binnen te lopen.

📅 28 juli t/m 9 augustus: geen consulaire afspraken
Vanwege de verhuizing is de consulaire afdeling in deze periode alleen bereikbaar voor noodgevallen. Het is niet mogelijk om een afspraak te maken. Vanaf 10 augustus is de consulaire afdeling weer geopend op de nieuwe locatie.

⏳ Maak uw afspraak op tijd
Door de verhuizing en de zomerpiek bij de verwerking van paspoortaanvragen kunnen de wachttijden de komende periode langer zijn dan gebruikelijk. Heeft u binnenkort een nieuw paspoort nodig of een andere consulaire afspraak? Maak dan tijdig een afspraak.

📍 Appointments for proof of life certificates
From now on, appointments are required to have your proof of life certificate (SVB or pension fund) signed at the Embassy. Walk-ins are no longer possible.

📅 28 July – 9 August: no consular appointments
Due to the Embassy's relocation, the consular section will only be available for emergencies during this period. It will not be possible to schedule appointments. Consular services will resume at the new location from 10 August.

⏳ Make your appointment in time
Waiting times for appointments may be longer than usual in the coming weeks due to the relocation and the summer peak in passport processing. If you need to renew your passport or require another consular service, we encourage you to make an appointment well in advance.

🤝 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁

On 20 May, Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden paid a farewell visit to Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, they reflected on the bilateral relationship between the Netherlands and Cambodia, including the continued growth in trade and investment and the broader development of cooperation between both countries. Ambassador Van Wijngaarden emphasized the importance of a level playing field for Dutch companies, contributing to a strong and attractive investment climate in Cambodia.

They also exchanged views on regional developments, and how those directly impact developments in our countries. Ambassador Van Wijngaarden underlined the importance of respect for international law, the international rules-based order and human rights.

Ambassador Van Wijngaarden thanked Prime Minister Hun Manet for the cooperation during his tenure and wished him wisdom in his leadership.

🔶 Yesterday afternoon, we had the pleasure of hosting a hybrid session on Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) with a variety of Dutch organizations and their local partners operating in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. The discussion delved into the legal frameworks and policy developments in The Netherlands (incl. IMVO), the European Union (e.g., EUDR, EUCSDDD, FRL) and Thailand (i.e., the draft HRDD Act). It also provided a platform to share experiences, best practices, and learning points.

🇳🇱 Yesterday morning the new Dutch government led by Minister-President Rob Jetten was sworn in by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander at Huis ten Bosch Palace in the Hague.

🤝 As such, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tom Berendsen, and the new Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, have also officially assumed their functions.

Today marks 4 years since Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine. A brutal attack, in violation of all international rules. It is an attack on global security, on human rights, and on international law.

Through blatant and indiscriminate aggression, Russia aims to erase the Ukrainian identity, control the country, and dictate its future. Russia has deliberately targeted schools, hospitals, museums, and theatres on a large scale.
Everybody is longing for peace in Ukraine, the Ukrainians most of all. The Netherlands is committed to working with other countries to explore all possibilities to achieve peace for the Ukrainian people. An eventual peace agreement needs to be just, sustainable, and in line with the principles of the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, Ukraine courageously endures. The Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine in this, militarily and non-militarily, as long as it takes.

𝗕𝗶𝗷𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗼𝗺𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗷𝗮 𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗼𝘀

🔶 Afgelopen week ontvingen we de Nederlandse honorair consuls (HC’s) in Bangkok voor een tweedaagse bijeenkomst op de ambassade in Bangkok. De HC's zijn van groot belang binnen ons netwerk en bieden consulaire hulp aan Nederlanders in nood, evenals andere consulaire diensten, zoals het verstrekken van nooddocumenten.

🔶 Tijdens deze bijeenkomst lag de nadruk op het consulair-maatschappelijk werk van de HC's in Thailand, Cambodja en Laos. Door middel van het uitwisselen van ervaringen, gesprekken met het ambassadeteam en trainingen met experts van het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, hebben we gezamenlijk op de afgelopen tijd gereflecteerd en het aankomend jaar voorbereid.

🔶 Graag bedanken we de HC's van harte voor hun inzet voor Nederlanders in het buitenland. We richten ons erop van deze bijeenkomst een gewoonte te maken en ze volgend jaar weer te ontvangen.

👉 Last week, the Netherlands’ Honorary Consul Mr. Gerjan Lennips attended a ceremony celebrating 35 years of Spien Cambodia - អង្គការស្ពាន and the grand opening of the Diny Sunshine Medical Clinic. Made possible by the collaborative work of Spien Cambodia, Stichting De Brug Cambodja , and Stichting Pharus , the new clinic will offer accessible quality primary health to residents in Cambodia.

👉 H.E. Souny Vongvisiddh, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, was present at the ceremony to deliver keynote remarks. We are glad to see these fruitful results of this collaboration and we wish Spien Cambodia many more impactful years ahead.
