🐔 “ไก่ขาว” ตราประจำจังหวัดลำปาง รูปไก่ขาวยืนอยู่ในซุ้มมณฑปพระธาตุลำปางหลวง หมายถึง "ไก่เผือก" เป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่มีมาตั้งแต่สมัยเมืองกุกกุฏนคร (ตำนานเมืองลำปาง) ส่วนซุ้มมณฑปที่วัดพระธาตุลำปางหลวงเป็นศิลปกรรมล้านนาที่งดงาม อีกทั้งวัดพระธาตุลำปางหลวงเป็นวัดคู่บ้านคู่เมืองลำปางมีองค์พระเจดีย์ที่บรรจุพระบรมเกศาธาตุของพระพุทธเจ้าและเป็นที่เคารพสักการะของพุทธศาสนิกชนทั่วโลก 🙏✨
🐔 ตามตำนาน “ไก่ขาว” ถูกใช้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่มาจากกุกกุฏนครซึ่งเป็นอีกชื่อหนึ่งของลำปางแปลว่า "เมืองไก่ขัน" ชื่อนี้มีตำนานเล่าว่าเมื่อครั้งพุทธกาลสมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าเสด็จมาประทับ ณ เมืองลำปางพระอินทร์ทราบข่าวจึงแปลงกายเป็นไก่ขาว เพื่อขันปลุกพระพุทธองค์ให้ตื่นขึ้นมาปฏิบัติภารกิจ ทั้งยังเป็นห่วงว่าชาวเมืองลำปางจะตื่นขึ้นมาใส่บาตรพระพุทธองค์ไม่ทันจึงขันปลุกชาวบ้านให้ตื่นมาหุงหาอาหารเตรียมใส่บาตร

🐔 "The White Rooster" is the official symbol on the Lampang provincial seal, depicted standing inside the pavilion of Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. It represents the "albino rooster," a symbol dating back to the ancient era of Kukutanakhara (the legendary name of Lampang). The beautiful pavilion reflects finest Lanna art. Moreover, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is the most sacred temple in the province, enshrining the holy hair relic of the Lord Buddha, which is highly revered by Buddhists worldwide. 🙏✨
🌅 According to the legend, the "White Rooster" symbol comes from Kukutanakhara, an old name for Lampang meaning "The City of the Crowing Rooster."
🍚 The story goes back to the Buddha's lifetime. When the Lord Buddha traveled to Lampang, the god Indra learned of his arrival. To ensure the Buddha woke up for his daily rituals and to worry less that the locals might oversleep and miss the chance to offer food, Indra disguised himself as a white rooster. He then crowed loudly to wake up both the Buddha and the villagers so they could prepare alms in time. 🌾
