Pada 28-29 April 2026, Duta Besar RI Damaskus melaksanakan kunjungan kerja ke Provinsi Aleppo dalam rangka memperkuat kerja sama pelindungan WNI, ekonomi perdagangan, dan sosial budaya.
Pada pertemuan dengan Gubernur Aleppo, Y.M. Azzam Al-Gharib, Duta Besar RI menekankan pentingnya dukungan Pemerintah Suriah dalam menekan jumlah PMI non-prosedural, salah satunya dengan mengeluarkan aturan tegas terhadap masuknya PMI non-prosedural ke Suriah. Selanjutnya, juga didiskusikan gagasan sister city antara Aleppo dengan provinsi di Indonesia.
Selanjutnya, dalam pertemuan dengan Ketua Kadin Aleppo, M. Said Chekh Alkar, didiskusikan agar produk dari Indonesia dapat kembali memenuhi pasar Suriah, mengingat kualitasnya yang sangat baik dan harga yang bersaing. Ketua Kadin Aleppo juga menyatakan minat partisipasi pada TEI 2026, serta mengajak para pebisnis Indonesia untuk berinvestasi ke Suriah.
Selanjutnya dalam pertemuan dengan Founder Perusahaan Dalil Co., dibahas mengenai dukungan KBRI Damaskus dalam mendukung bisnis impor kayu lapis dari Indonesia ke Suriah, yang menjadi bahan baku utama produksi furnitur hingga kitchen set.
Mengakhiri kunjungan kerja, Duta Besar RI meninjau fasilitas shelter Aleppo, untuk memastikan mekanisme pelindungan WNI di Aleppo hingga pengamanan shelter.

In 28-29 April 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Damascus conducted a working visit to Aleppo Province to strengthen cooperation in the protection of Indonesian nationals, trade and economic relations, as well as socio-cultural engagement.
During a meeting with the Governor of Aleppo, H.E. Azzam Al-Gharib, the Ambassador underscored the importance of the Syrian Government’s support in reducing the number of non-procedural Indonesian migrant workers, including through the issuance of strict regulations to prevent their entry into Syria. The discussion also covered a potential sister city initiative between Aleppo and a province in Indonesia.
In a separate meeting with the Chairman of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, M. Said Chekh Alkar, discussions focused on the re-entry of Indonesian products into the Syrian market, given their strong quality and competitive pricing. The Chairman also expressed interest in participating in TEI 2026 and invited Indonesian businesses to explore investment opportunities in Syria.
Furthermore, in a meeting with the Founder of Dalil Co., discussions highlighted the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Damascus’ support for facilitating the import of Indonesian plywood to Syria, which serves as a key raw material for furniture and kitchen set production.
Concluding the visit, the Ambassador inspected the Aleppo shelter facility to ensure the effectiveness of protection mechanisms for Indonesian nationals, including the security of the shelter.
