Statement on the Launch of the Syrian Political Movement Tamekeen in Syria.
In light of the systematic suppression of political action in Syria over the past five decades, and in recognition of the importance of Syrians' political participation in shaping the country’s future, the Syrian Political Movement Tamkeen declares its launch as a Syrian national political project. This step comes from our firm belief in the necessity of political engagement as a cornerstone for building a state based on democracy, citizenship, and human rights.
Introduction to the Syrian Political Movement Tamkeen Movement:
The Tamkeen Movement is a national political movement that draws its vision from the principles of the Syrian revolution and from the national legacy forged by the sacrifices of Syrians in the pursuit of independence and the building of the state.
The movement aims to achieve active citizenship, democracy, and the solidification of human rights by strengthening the rule of law, reinforcing social justice, achieving sustainable development, and empowering Syrians to actively participate in political life.
The movement believes that the absence of organized political action has significantly contributed to the deepening of the country’s crises. The path forward requires restoring political action as a vital societal practice and empowering Syrians to participate in shaping their future.
Our Message to the State and the Society:
Empowering Political Action:
Raising political awareness among citizens about their rights and duties, and strengthening active citizenship.
Supporting media mobilization aimed at spreading the culture of dialogue, political participation, the importance of elections, and democratic systems.
Empowering Participatory National Action:
Collaborating with all political forces and civil society groups in Syria.
Stressing the necessity of communication and coordination with the transitional government.
Urging the transitional government to embrace constructive political criticism, which plays a key role in assessing the government’s performance, enhancing transparency, and building mutual trust.
Empowering the Role of Local Institutions:
Activating the role of unions as vital players in driving change.
Activating the role of municipal councils as essential partners in the political transition.
Towards a Unifying National Conference:
Calling on all political and civil forces to participate in the national conference.
Emphasizing the importance of inclusive representation for all components of the Syrian people, both politically and socially.
Reaching a Transitional Constitutional Phase:
Adopting a temporary constitutional document that regulates the transitional phase and addresses the issues arising from the conflict, without entrenching them in the permanent constitution.
Contributing to the political and social groundwork for building a solid foundation during the transitional phase, with Syrians playing the central role in drafting a new constitution that reflects their aspirations.
Our Vision for Political Action:
The Syrian Political Movement Tamkeen believes that political action is not exclusive to parties or elites, but is a right and responsibility for all members of society. From this perspective, the movement strives to create an inclusive political space, allowing all Syrians to participate in shaping Syria’s future, regardless of their backgrounds.
Conclusion of the Statement:
We, at Tamkeen, reaffirm our commitment to working diligently and persistently to achieve our national objectives, always placing the interests of the nation and the people above all. We call upon all Syrians to join us on this journey to rebuild Syria as a state founded on justice, democracy, and human rights.
Glory to the martyrs. Truth and justice for the forcibly disappeared. Justice for the survivors. A swift recovery for the wounded. And the safe return of the displaced.
Long live a free Syria.
