Juba, 15 September 2026 β The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, on Tuesday chaired the Service Cluster meeting in Juba, bringing together relevant Ministers and government officials.
The meeting considered a number of policy matters, including the recommendations of the Service Clusterβs Extraordinary Meeting No. 01/2026 held on 22 April 2026.
The Cluster approved the National Child Labour Policy, presented by the Minister of Labour, Hon. Anthony Lino Makana. The Policy provides a framework for strengthening the protection of childrenβs rights and supporting coordinated efforts to prevent and address child labour in South Sudan.
The Cluster also considered and approved a policy memorandum from the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, presented by Hon. Dr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok, covering four key policy areas: the National Teacher Education Policy 2026; Female Teacher Affirmative Action Policy 2026; South Sudan Inspection Policy 2026; and South Sudan Pre-Primary Education Policy 2026.
The two policy submissions were approved by the Service Cluster for onward presentation to the Council of Ministers for consideration and final approval.
Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi underscored the importance of strengthening the protection of children from exploitation and advancing policies that promote their rights and well-being. He also highlighted the importance of continued reforms in the education sector to strengthen the delivery and quality of education across the country.
