On the 14th March 2024, Hon. Jacob Akech Dengdit the SPLM Chairperson in Jonglei state, and the deputy governor of Jonglei was in Duk county of Jonglei state for the 2024 mini endorsement of H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit the SPLM chairman and the president of South Sudan as the flag bearer of the SPLM party.

People of Duk county turned up in many numbers, and assured the SPLM party of their love, willingness and readiness to vote for H.E President Salva kiir Mayardit.

JONGLEI STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR, H.E. JACOB AKECH DENGDIT AND LAWMAKERS FROM DUK, TWIC EAST AND BOR COUNTIES VISITS KADIANG AND POKTAP

BOR, 17TH JAN, 2024. The Acting Governor and Deputy Governor of Jonglei State H.E Jacob Akech Dengdit led the Delegations of law makers to the recently attacked areas of Poktap and kadiang of Duk County.

The purpose of the visit was mainly to console with the families affected by recent unwarranted killing of their loved ones and also to affirm government’s commitment and concerns to ensuring peacful co-existant among the communities.

In his remark, the Deputy Governor told the aggrieved families to remain calm and allow continued peaceful coexistence. He added that the government is working closely with their counterparts from the GPAA to ensure that a lasting solution is found and an end to the cycle of violence, cattle raiding and child abduction.

PRESS STATEMENT

10TH JAN, 2024. BOR. This statement serves to apprise the people of Jonglei State and Twic East community in particular that there are individuals peddling unfounded rumors on social media about a purported interference in the Judicial proceedings by the Deputy Governor of Jonglei State, H.E. Jacob Akech Dengdit.

Those rumors are lies and carries no truth in them as all Judicial proceedings and investigations are independent from any outside interference. The Deputy Governor has been on the forefront in pressing hard for the perpetrators to all be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.

Hence, this is to categorically and firmly state that H.E. Jacob Akech Dengdit has not instituted, ordered or advocated for the release of any suspect from jail.

The Judicial Services of Jonglei State is on top of the case and he cannot interfere with the case in any way or form.

The intentions of those rumormongers is to fuel a rift between the two sisterly communities of Twic East and Duk and also to tarnish the image of H.E. Jacob Akech Dengdit who have been championing for peaceful coexistence among the communities of Jonglei State.

The case is sensitive and of higher magnitude and shouldn’t be subjected to social media debating.

Yesterday evening, H.E. Jacob Akech Dengdit, the Deputy Governor, and SPLM Chairperson paid a courtesy visit to the wounded youths of Duk county, Poktap Boma who were attacked by murle criminals and brought to Geida military hospital, he gives them words of encouragement.

CONDEMNATION OF THE BARBARIC ATTACK ON DUK COUNTY, POKTAP BOMA BY CRIMINALS FROM THE GREATER PIBOR ADMINISTRATIVE AREA (GPAA)*

The government of Jonglei State shockingly learnt that the criminals from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) carried out an attack on Duk County, Poktap Boma on the 4th of January, 2024 at around 2pm. This attack led to the death of more than 20 youths with over 20 others wounded and over 7000 herd of cattle raided.

The government of Jonglei State condemns such barbaric acts and call upon the leadership of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area to rein in on the criminals and hold them accountable. Such unprovoked attacks are detrimental to all peace efforts and gains made in peace building among the communities of Jonglei State and GPAA. The criminals are lurking all over the State with numerous reports of ambushes on the roads and attacks on innocent civilians going about their daily activities.

The State government stand in solidarity with the people of Duk County at this very critical moment and share with them the sorrow and grief over the lost of lives and wish the wounded a quick recovery.

The State government is coordinating with both the National government and the leadership of the GPAA to ensure necessary steps are taken to avert further escalation of the violence.

Yesterday during the Jonglei State first Rice Harvest, the colorful event which happened in John Garang Memorial university was attended by H.E Jacob Akech Dengdit the SPLM Chairperson in Jonglei state and the Deputy Governor of Jonglei State where he give the message on the importance of agriculture among our people and how it can bring peace, and stability in our state if we produce our own food as citizens.

CONDOLENCES MESSAGE OF THE PASSING ON OF HON. YUOT ALIER HOK

It is with deep sorrow and shock to learn of the passing on of Hon. Yuot Alier Hok, the former Commissioner of Bor South County due to short illness yesterday in Juba. Hon. Yuot Alier was a dedicated SPLM Cadre who gave his all to serve his people and the State during his tenure as the Commissioner of Bor County.

To the people of Bor County, His Family and Jonglei State at large, I share with you in your sorrow and grief. Please accept my sincere condolences during this difficult time.

May God Rest His Soul in Eternal Peace.

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF JONGLEI STATE

Great citizens of Jonglei State.
Today marks the end of 2023 and ushering in the New Year of 2024. Amongst other important milestones registered, this year gave our State a crucial rare opportunity to host our President for two days when he came to commission the 2nd phase of the Juba – Bor – Ayod - Fangak - Malakal Highway. This was all possible through our President’s Love for his people and the Mercies and Gracefulness of God Almighty.

On behalf of the government of Jonglei State and its people, I would like to extend this New Year Message to our able President, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, his family, colleagues in the Unity government and the people of South Sudan at large. I pray and hope that the New Year will bring with it good tidings to all of us.

I would like to recognize this year as the final year of the R-ARCSS roadmap and I wish to congratulate our President, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit and the parties to the R-ARCSS for working tirelessly for a sustainable and lasting peace and being steadfast in giving leadership and guidance during the turbulences of the implementation of the R-ARCSS. Through his wise leadership, our country is now largely peaceful and going through the festivities in an atmosphere that is conducive for the citizens.

As the curtain falls on the year, 2023, I want to assure all the citizens of this GREAT STATE that my quest to unite and stitch together the communities of Jonglei State and sow everlasting peace and harmony amongst them is bearing fruits. This is seen through the increased business activities, cultural and social activities among the communities; i.e. the traders from Bor are now able to go as far as Lankien, Nyirol County to go and buy cattle and return back safely. I have been able to visit all the counties of the State in order to map the challenges facing them so that a tailored solution that best suits the situation is provided.

Dear citizens, our country is headed for the elections next year; therefore, I am calling upon all the political parties in the State to cease from ring-fencing areas based on tribal lines or perceived affiliation and allow free and safe political atmosphere for all political parties to carry out their activities without fear and intimidation.

Finally, I wish you great New Year activities and remember to celebrate with your loved ones in ways that are abiding to the law and order.
