PRESS STATEMENT

The Office of the Commissioner of Akobo County, under the leadership of Hon. John Wiyual L*l formally rejects the statement made by former Commissioner James Kueth Makuach (Kueth Nyalew), claiming that Walgak is secure for humanitarian aid workers.

This information is incorrect, as it is being treated as null. Walgak remains a conflict-affected area and is still considered a war zone.

Therefore, it is not safe for humanitarian aid workers to operate there at this time.

The Office of the Commissioner advises all humanitarian organizations and aid workers to exercise caution and refrain from deploying staff to Walgak until further notice, pending an official security assessment confirming the area’s safety.
