EQUAL is a charity with Institution of Public Character (IPC) status that offers Animal-Assisted Services to children, youths, persons with special needs, families, and seniors. EQUAL partners with animals to provide experiential and educational programmes that help empower vulnerable persons such as children, youths, persons with special needs, families, and seniors by enhancing their social and

emotional well-being and supporting social integration in a safe environment — building resilience and inclusive communities.

On 9 May 2026, we were honoured to welcome and members of the ecosystem to .sg for a meaningful Community Day.

The day featured both volunteering and experiential activities at our stables, from helping to clean the horses’ stalls as part of supporting animal welfare and care, to participating in excerpts of activities we conduct with our beneficiaries.

These experiential segments offered participants a glimpse into the horse-human connection that sits at the heart of EQUAL’s work. Through simple yet intentional interactions with the horses, the sessions underscored how moments of trust, presence and connection can create deeply meaningful change in the lives of individuals facing social-emotional, mental health, and relational challenges.

This partnership holds special significance for us. In 2011, Temasek Foundation came on board as the founding sponsor of our youth programme — a journey that has since supported thousands of youths across Singapore, including those from schools, care institutions, and children’s homes.

We are deeply grateful that Temasek Foundation continued this journey with us in 2025 through its support of our two-year Haydays with Horses pilot, bringing equine-assisted services to seniors across Singapore in partnership with Active Ageing Centres and nursing homes.

As we look ahead, we are excited for the new doors this partnership will continue to open, creating more opportunities for healing, connection, growth and community through the power of horses.

We were honoured to be part of the Lunar New Year Istana Open House on 22 February 2026 — a special Year of the Horse edition — where members of the public, young and old, stopped by to meet the EQUAL herd.

It was a joy to see visitors, including families, spending time with our miniature horses and experiencing these gentle interactions up close. We were especially privileged that President Tharman Shanmugaratnam .sg took time during the walkabout to interact with Caterpillar.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share about EQUAL’s work, and heartened by the strong encouragement and support from members of the public. As we step into the Year of the Horse, we hope for continued support to bring our programmes to more in the community.

On 20 February 2026, EQUAL brought seniors from six NTUC Health nursing homes together with our therapy horses — part of our growing work supporting emotional wellbeing across Singapore’s ageing community.

We were honoured to have Minister Chee Hong Tat 徐芳达, Member of Parliament for Bishan–Toa Payoh GRC, join us for the celebration, underscoring the importance of community-based care for our seniors. Together, we tossed a special Lo Hei / “Hay” — with our horses right beside us.

Our miniature horses grazed calmly alongside the seniors, leaned in for gentle greetings, and drew quiet smiles. At one point, a senior broke into a familiar Chinese New Year tune — a spontaneous moment that lifted the afternoon.

At EQUAL, guided time with horses supports emotional wellbeing, confidence, and connection for seniors, youths, and children — especially those who benefit from safe, non-judgemental spaces to reconnect.

As demand from community partners continues to grow, we welcome more supporters and partners to help sustain and expand our equine-assisted programmes across Singapore.

A first for Jewel Changi Airport ⭐️

In celebration of the Year of the Horse 🐴 we’re incredibly honoured that EQUAL’s mini therapy horses were invited to appear at Jewel — one of the best airports in the world.

This partnership marks the very first time Jewel has brought in horses, and we couldn’t be prouder to see our gentle ambassadors sharing moments of calm, joy and connection with the public in such an iconic space.

Our deepest thanks to the team from Changi Airport Group and Jewel for their trust, vision and close collaboration. Your openness to something new — and your unwavering commitment to safety, welfare and excellence made this meaningful first possible.

Huge gratitude as well to Team EQUAL and our incredible volunteers, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Every detail was driven by heart, professionalism and love for the horses.

When mental wellness isn’t about talking more 🐴💛

During EQUAL’s recent chat on CNA 93.8FM’s Wellness Hour, one idea kept coming back: healing isn’t always built through words alone.

Our CEO Elaine Chen and Programme Instructor Zarrah Aloba shared how equine-assisted learning offers a different entry point — helping people notice how they show up, regulate emotions, and build steadiness through experience.

In our sessions, we often witness moments like these:
✨ seniors who were less socially engaged becoming more expressive and connected
✨ youths who usually react quickly learning to pause
✨ adults recognising stress earlier before it escalates

Quiet moments. Powerful shifts.
