"I wanted to create a woman who had the strength and wisdom to stand in her own vulnerability, face her greatest fear, and ultimately endure her deepest pain… To me, Maria is a true heroine.” - director Lilja Ingolfsdottir
LOVEABLE is a nuanced character study of a woman in crisis. With an in-depth understanding of human psychology, Ingolfsdottir depicts the hero(ine)’s journey of psychic healing that, she believes, is up for each of us to undertake. LOVEABLE is unique in how closely it draws to the heart of psychotherapeutic work. With great flexibility and rhythm in narrative form, she uncovers what it takes to heal, and what healing looks like.
Maria (Helga Guren) juggles four children and a demanding career while her second husband, Sigmund (Oddgeir Thune), often travels for work. One day, an ugly argument pushes Sigmund to ask for a divorce. Now, Maria must face her deepest fears.
