Biography of Luang Phor P**n - Wat Phailom and Luang Phi Namfon - Wat Phailom
Luang Phor P**n(Phul) was born on 11th November 2455 in Nakhon Pathom. He was the 6th child in the family. Luang Phor P**n studies at Wat Huay Chorokae school and graduated from primary school there. Luang Phor P**n family was not wealthy so he didn't continue to study and help up his family fruit plantation. he was interested in learning so when he is free, he will train his reading and writing Khmer script and traditional medicine until he became an expert like his grandfather ( Pu Yaem Pinthong ), a layman who was a expert in occult , astrology and traditional medicine.
Luang Phor P**n was a quiet person and didn't talk much but he passion was fighting so he trained and studied the art of Muay Thai until he was a skillful boxer. He joined the military under The Royal Cavalry Guard in 2477 for 1 and a half year.
After he discharged from the military, he felt that it's a good time to repay his parent so he ordained on 9th May 2480 at Wat Phra Ngam under Luang Phor Suk Pathumsuwanno ( Abbot of Wat Huay Chorokae ) as his preceptor. After the ordination, he resided at Wat Phra Ngam and studied the Dhamma and Vinaya. He had the opportunity to become a disciple of many famous monks including Luang Phor Prom - Wat Phra Ngam, Luang Phor Suk - Wat Huay Chorokae and Luang Phor Ngern - Wat Don Yai Hom.
Luang Phor Ngern was very kind to him as his teaches him everything that he know like meditation, incantation, making of amulets and magical arts. After learned everything, Luang Phor P**n started for his Tudong adventure which he headed to Lopburi, Nakhon Sawan and Phitsanulok.
In 2486, Wat Phailom did not have any abbot as every abbot there stayed for a short period and then disrobed. Many villagers lost their faith and stopped giving alms. This result Wat Phailom becoming deserted. Until the villagers heard that there is a monk who had well conduct staying st Wat Phra Ngam named Phra P**n Attarakho ( Luang Phor P**n) . They went there to pay respects to Luang Phor P**n and invited him to reside at Wat Phailom. Luang Phor P**n was officially appointed as the abbot on 10th May 2492.
At that time Wat Phailom did not have a chapel. He consulted with the senior monks and layman to construct it. He recieved funds and completed the construction of the first chapel. With the help from the villagers, he managed to devolp the temple and building the sermon hall.
Luang Phor P**n was a reowned monk who known for his Metta Maha Niyom and his making of Phra Hanuman , Phra Khun Paen, Kuman Thong and earned the respect from disciples nationwide. * Many disciples from Singapore , Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Over the years, Luang Phor P**n had built crematorium , multi purpose pavillion , Wat Phailom School , Ayuwatthana Mongkol garden and many more. He will provide assistance to the villagers no matter whether they were rich or poor, everyone could recieve help from him.
In Nakhon Pathom, there are alot of drug addiction problem which involved in school so Luang Phor P**n used most of the temple donation funds to purchase drug testing equipment and give 100% support for the anti-drug campaign. He was worried and couldn't sleep well. This is the mission of Luang Phor P**n. He need to stop. Slowly he begun to be called " The God of Wat Phailom".
Even at old aged, Luang Phor P**n still never neglected his duties. During the day, he would practice meditation, meditate, and extend loving-kindness to all beings, a path that would lead to liberation from material attachment, which leads to defilements. From morning to afternoon, he would set aside time for laypeople to talk, discuss Dharma, and treat the sick with traditional medicine. This was a form of assistance to those seeking refuge from the heat, without discrimination based on social class.
On 28th December 2547, Luang Phor P**n admitted to hospital due to sickness. The doctor concluded he should rest more. On 31th December same year, temple held a ceremony to celebrate the Ordination of " Phra Mongkol Sitthikan" and offer it to Luang Phor P**n at Wat Phailom. At that time, Luang Phor P**n condition did not improve, so they took him to the hospital for further treatment. Later the doctor diagnosed that Luang Phor P**n had a heart valve leakage. On 13th January 2548 , Luang Phi Namfon transferred Luang Phor P**n to Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok and had admitted to ICU.
Throughout his illness, Luang Phor P**n remained fully conscious, chanting Buddhist mantras to meditate and soothe his pain. Therefore, no one ever heard him complain of any pain. However, due to his old age, his condition did not improve. However, when a close disciple whispered in his ear, "Don't forget your promise," he would nod in understanding and calmly enter into meditation, focusing his mind until his condition was controlled.
There were two promises Luang Phor P**n made to his disciples. First, he promised to preside over the blessing ceremony for the Khun Paen-Kuman Thong amulets, a model built by the temple, to raise funds for the construction of a pollution-free crematorium. The project, which cost over 35 million baht, was one of the gifts Luang Phor P**n wanted to give to the people of Nakhon Pathom, whom he loved. He realized that when Wat Pai Lom held cremations, dust and smoke spread, causing disturbances and annoyances to nearby residents.
Consequently, he envisioned the construction of a pollution-free crematorium. Even though it required a huge amount of money, for the public good, Luang Phor never regretted it.
Another promise was that he had promised since the previous year that he would preside over the ceremony to pay homage to the ancestors. Wat Phailom has held this annual Visakha Bucha Day for over a decade, and this ceremony has attracted the devotion of Buddhists, artists, singers, and leading Thai actors and actresses. The event falls on 22nd May 2548. All of his disciples hope to receive Luang Phor's kindness once again, even though deep down they fear that this might be the last time.
For more than four months, Luang Phor had to lie in bed with no sign of improvement. His disciples could only hope that a miracle would one day bring him recovery from his illness. But after waiting and waiting, everyone almost lost their courage.
Finally, on 15th May 2548, a miracle truly happened. Luang Phor P**n's condition suddenly improved dramatically. Even the attending physician was surprised and allowed Luang Por Pool to leave the hospital and return to Wat Phailom.
Later, on 17th May, Luang Phor participated in the consecration ceremony for the Khun Paen-Kuman Thong amulets, as promised, even though he was lying on his bed. The temple had built an ICU room specifically for patients, complete with modern medical equipment, in his kuti. His disciples connected a sacred thread from the outdoor pavilion in front of the chapel to Luang Phor's kuti and had him hold it until the ceremony was complete.
Later, on 21th May, at 6 a.m., the day before the ceremony to honor the ancient teachers, Luang Phor Pool experienced dizziness and bloody stools. His condition worsened again, and he had to be rushed to Samitivej Hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with a stomach infection and severe stomach bleeding, and he was unable to undergo surgery due to his weakness. He might have passed away that same day.
However, a second miracle occurred: that same evening, Luang Phor's condition improved again. Even the doctors were surprised that a man nearly a hundred years old could fight such a terrible disease and suffering. The disciples who heard the news were overjoyed that they still had the revered monk as their inspiration and had the strength to successfully organize the big event the next day as planned.
on 22nd May 2548, That day was bright and cloudless. Many devotes went to Wat Phailom to make merit by offering alms on Visakha Bucha Day. They also took the opportunity to participate in the annual ceremony to pay respect to the ancestors for good fortune in life. Until the sun set, more than 50 famous Thai artists, singers, and actors arrived to join the ceremony together. Luang Phi Namfon Kittichitto, the assistant abbot of Wat Phailom who also a top disciple of Luang Phor P**n, presided over the ceremony . The ceremony proceeded smoothly without any obstacles. Although the sky cooperated by sending dark clouds to cover the temple grounds later, creating coolness, there was not a single drop of rain. Meanwhile, at Samitivej Hospital, Luang Phor P**n was meditating and chanting from his hospital bed quietly without showing any signs of pain.
After the afternoon ceremony The disciples were informed by the hospital that Luang Phor's condition had deteriorated beyond medical care. Everyone hurried to the hospital as quickly as possible to be in time for his final visit. Upon arriving at the hospital, all the disciples saw was the body of an elderly man, nearly a hundred years old, lying still on the bed. Although his body appeared thin and emaciated, his face was radiant with merit and virtue. He did not show the slightest signs of suffering from internal illness. His mind was strong and resolute, much more than a person of his age could achieve. On the same day 2.55pm, the sound of the vital signs monitor stopped. He awakened all his disciples from their reveries and returned to the real world, to let them know that Luang Phor P**n had peacefully passed away on Visakha Puja Day due to a gastritis and acute gastric bleeding, leaving behind only his teachings and the virtues accumulated throughout his 93 years of life and 68 years as a monk.
