Every action. Every check. Every callout.

Before taking to the skies, our trainees of the 264th Basic Airborne Course go through rigorous safety drills and disciplined repetitions on the ground. From equipment checks to rehearsed actions, safety is ingrained at every step — because in airborne training, there is no room for complacency.

Backed by the watchful eyes of our Parachute Jump Instructors (PJIs), every jump begins with discipline, focus, and a commitment towards striving for zero accidents.

Captain (CPT) Ng Guo Kai, Alvin recently graduated from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, Virginia, USA, completing the course from July 2025 to May 2026. The programme develops officers to embody the Maneuver Warfare Mindset and effectively employ a Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) in a naval expeditionary environment.

Throughout the course, CPT Ng demonstrated outstanding academic and professional excellence, graduating as a Distinguished Graduate, earning a place on the Marine Corps University President’s Honour Roll, and receiving the International Military Student Award for Excellence. These accolades reflect his dedication, professionalism, and consistently outstanding performance among his international peers.

Reflecting on his experience, CPT Ng shared: “The course was challenging due to the demanding pace of the curriculum and the need to quickly grasp unfamiliar concepts before applying them during planning exercises and discussions. Through the guidance of my Faculty Advisor, the support of my classmates, and many hours spent studying outside of lessons, I gained a much deeper appreciation of combined arms planning, operational thinking, and the profession of arms.” He added that the experience strengthened his sense of purpose as a military professional and reinforced the standards and responsibilities he strives to uphold.

Our Army congratulates CPT Ng on his outstanding achievements and for flying the Singapore flag high! 🇸🇬

Last week, 2nd People’s Defence Force (2 PDF) organised our annual Army Appreciation Dinner (AAD), hosted by the Chief of Army (COA), Major-General (MG) Cai Dexian, who was accompanied by the Sergeant Major of the Army, Senior Warrant Officer (SWO) Chua Hong Hup, to honour the contributions of our retired service personnel and to acknowledge the support of their loved ones.

In his speech, MG Cai expressed his gratitude to the retirees: “We are here not just to celebrate a career, but a legacy built in quiet moments of sacrifice - the early mornings when others slept, the long nights when duty called, the unseen efforts that kept our nation safe. While the threats facing Singapore have evolved, the same timeless spirit of duty and dedication that defined our early volunteers lives on in every one of you. Your collective contributions have shaped thousands of soldiers, strengthened Our Army, and safeguarded our nation's peace and security.”

Our Army salutes our retirees for their selfless service and unwavering commitment, wishing them the very best in their future endeavours!
