We concluded the second workshop under the Singapore-Brazil Third Country Training Programme in Florianópolis, Brazil! 🇧🇷

This workshop on Food Safety brought together 25 officials from 10 Latin American and Caribbean countries to learn Singapore’s food regulatory approaches and Brazil’s expertise in animal and plant inspection systems perspective as an import-dependent nation, while Brazil contributed deep expertise as a key food exporter – supporting more resilient and reliable food systems across regions. Excited for more courses ahead as we continue harnessing our mutual knowledge and experiences to benefit our friends worldwide!

Through a field-based case study at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, participants from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) took on the roles of project developers, working through real-world trade-offs, safeguards and design requirements.

This formed part of SCP's five-day SIDS Bilateral course on The State of Blue Carbon Science, Policy and Finance, which follows blue carbon's complete journey: from scientific measurement, through national policy and Article 6 frameworks, to high-integrity projects and financing.

Coastal and marine ecosystems present crucial opportunities for climate mitigation and resilience – but they can be difficult to operationalise at national scale, especially for SIDS.

These states face acute blue carbon challenges, from sea‑level rise and coastal erosion to degraded mangroves, seagrass loss and limited technical capacity.

By convening global experts and SIDS delegates, the course supported applied learning and peer exchange – supporting small island states in translating blue carbon potential into credible climate, environmental and economic outcomes.

How can we strengthen regional cooperation for energy resilience? That’s the question the SCP’s Workshop on the ASEAN Power Grid sought to answer back in March!

The Singapore–United Kingdom Third Country Training Programme’s Workshop on the ASEAN Power Grid brought together officials to explore how interconnected systems can support renewable energy integration across the region.

Through expert-led sessions and discussions, participants examined key enablers, from grid planning and flexibility to cross-border interconnections and system operations.

Singapore provides a platform for regional exchange, while the UK contributes its experience in managing renewable-heavy electricity systems, creating a collaborative learning environment grounded in practical insights.

As ASEAN works towards a more connected power grid, such partnerships support more resilient and sustainable energy systems. We look forward to seeing our SCP friends power up their countries!

Singapore recently hosted the 12th Technical Cooperation Meeting (TCM) to plan and review courses under the Singapore-Thailand Third Country Training Programme (TCTP). During the visit, officials from the Thailand International Cooperation Agency TICA Cooperation กรมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ were introduced to Singapore’s digital transformation initiatives. The delegation visited Punggol Digital District and Woodlands Checkpoint, where they explored smart city planning and automated crowd control measures at one of the world’s busiest land crossings.

This builds on our continued collaboration with TICA, which saw the successful delivery of four courses under the 2025 Workplan in the areas of digitalisation, sustainability, air quality improvement and bio-circular green economy model.

In the coming year, we will be jointly delivering another four courses in the areas of sustainability, digitalisation, food security and emergency preparedness. We look forward to another year of strong partnership! 🤝

SCP on the ground in Timor-Leste! 🇹🇱

As ASEAN’s newest member, understanding international trade law and ASEAN trade agreements is a key step in Timor-Leste’s development journey. We were delighted to partner with Japan to deliver this course for 26 officials, under the Japan-Singapore Partnership Programme for the 21st Century (JSPP21) – marking the first ever JSPP21 course to be held in Timor-Leste!

Together, we explored how ASEAN trade agreements, investment protection and dispute mechanisms play out in practice. Officials gained insights into Singapore and Japan’s approaches to international trade law, while considering how these apply to Timor-Leste’s unique priorities and context.

The SCP is back in Oman once again!

In partnership with the Oman Regional Institute of Infrastructure Development (RIID), the SCP organised a Strategic Leadership and Public Governance course in Sultan Qaboos University in January.

For the first time, Omani officials were joined by government officials from Qatar and Saudi Arabia to hear from experts from Singapore. Together, they explored Singapore's innovative approaches to public sector excellence — from strategic human resource management to forward-thinking leadership development. Participants dived into Singapore's people-centric governance model and our initiatives for lifelong learning, such as SkillsFuture.

We look forward to meeting more friends from the Middle East in capacity building courses at our regional training centres!

We recently welcomed 29 senior Indonesian officials from various ministries and agencies to Singapore for a course on Strategic Leadership and Public Governance. The course was conducted by Civil Service College Singapore and covered a wide range of topics, including urban development and economic policy planning.

Strategic leadership and long-term planning are fundamental for addressing current and future challenges, particularly as demographics shift. Participants saw these in action at Kampung Admiralty, Singapore's first modern vertical “kampung" that integrates public housing for seniors with healthcare and wellness facilities, enabling seniors to live independently and actively.

Women have been central to Singapore's transformation. Did you know there are more women than ever on the boards of Singapore’s biggest SGX-listed companies, and nearly one-third of our Members of Parliament today are women? 🎉

This comes from decades of building gender equality through collective action. The SCP brought Singapore's experience to government officials from 21 countries who are responsible for building more equal and inclusive societies. Participants heard from government agencies and advocacy groups, such as MSF Singapore , Ministry of Education, Singapore ,Singapore Ministry of Manpower, Punggol Fire Station and DadsforLife.sg .

Urban waste management is more than a municipal function. For small island states, it shapes environmental protection, public health and long-term development.

During their visit to Singapore this past January, senior officials from Fiji focused on how strong systems are built – from institutional coordination to long-term infrastructure planning and carefully sequenced reforms.

As Fiji advances its waste management reforms, the exchange provided practical insights on coherent governance frameworks, right-sized infrastructure and cross-agency alignment.

Sustainable systems are not built overnight. They are shaped through deliberate planning, strengthened through partnership, and sustained by leaders committed to serving future generations.
