From handcrafted kueh to a 1 million sq ft warehouse — two Singapore heritage food businesses with two different challenges.

Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery was looking to solve the physical grind of manual labour and the limited traceability of the production chain. Frozen food manufacturer Tee Yih Jia faced a different mountain: modernising manual warehousing for a facility 3x the previous size.

The answer: digital transformation.

In February, East Ventures launched My First $1000. Upper secondary and tertiary students were given $250 in seed capital and structured space to turn business ideas into reality.

Applied Materials Southeast Asia’s new 700,000 square foot manufacturing facility has opened in Singapore. This expansion creates new opportunities for local suppliers, strengthens our advanced manufacturing base, and helps Singapore-based companies plug into global value chains.
