ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is dedicated to Southeast Asia Research. Its acronym, remains ISEAS.

The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) was founded by an Act of Parliament in 1968. In August 2015, its name was renamed to ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute to honour Singapore's first president.

Happening now — We are pleased to have Ms Chan Xin Ying and Mr Ooi Kok Hin with us this morning to discuss the relationship between 's public administration appointments and reforms.

Giving us an overview of the country’s public administration structure and a comparison of the appointments in terms of speed and personnels during the two -led , our speakers examined the dynamics between political leaders and career civil servants, how the appointments and relationships shape bureaucratic and institutional reform in reality and perceptions, and discuss alternative ways of implementing reform agendas.

Titled 'Understanding Malaysia’s Public Administration and Elite Appointments', this webinar is moderated by Dr Francis Hutchinson and organised by the Malaysia Studies Programme.
