Singapore Cenotaph Forgotten Names Recalled

Singapore Cenotaph Forgotten Names Recalled Forgotten Names Recalled: Singapore Cenotaph First World War Centenary Commemoration Project

The Singapore Cenotaph was first built in 1922 to commemorate the men who went from the Straits Settlements of Singapore, Malacca and Penang to fight for their countries and died as a result. At the time when the Cenotaph was designed by Irishman Dennis Santry the 124 names would have recalled faces, voices and friendships. There were family members in Singapore for many of those listed; sports te

am members; work colleagues; church confreres; mess mates or house mates . Today none of those names brings forth a face to remember, an event to recollect or anything else save for a combination of letters that spells a person's previous existence. That's the reason for this project: Singapore Cenotaph Forgotten Names Recalled.
