China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) today unveiled its first five-year plan for economic and social development for the period of 2026 to 2030. This marks the first time the HKSAR has carried out holistic top‑level design for its economic and social development. It is of milestone significance for further advancing the practice of “One Country, Two Systems”. It will surely steer Hong Kong to accelerate its transition from stability to prosperity, and achieve high‑quality development by better integrating into and serving the China's overall development.

China’s 134.2-km Pinglu Canal in Guangxi opened to operation on September 16, linking the Xijiang River shipping route with the Beibu Gulf. As China’s first major nationally planned river-to-sea canal project since 1949, it can accommodate vessels of up to 5,000 tonnes. The canal is expected to shorten shipping between China's southwestern hinterland and ASEAN by 560 km and cut logistics costs by 18 to 30%.

中国位于广西、全长134.2公里的平陆运河于今日开通，将西江航运干线与北部湾连通。作为1949年以来中国首个国家层面规划建设的重大江海联通运河工程，该运河可通行最大5000吨级船舶。预计该运河将使中国西南腹地与东盟之间的航运距离缩短560公里，物流成本降低18%至30%。

China’s summer blockbuster has continued to gain popularity since its release, with box-office earnings surpassing RMB 2 billion yuan to date. Set against the backdrop of the 2003 U.S.-Iraq War, the film tells the story of Xu Fu, a Chinese chef who travels to the Middle East and, amid the ravages of war, devotes himself to protecting a group of orphans.

In the film, food represents love, connection, and the strength that enables ordinary people to “hold on” through the hardships of war. For those who have lived through war, as well as those who are still experiencing it today, “having a proper meal” is perhaps the greatest form of happiness. It also reminds us that, in war, everyone is a victim.

Over the past year, the Global Governance Initiative has rapidly gained the support and endorsement of nearly 160 countries and international organizations, with more than 60 countries actively joining the "Group of Friends for Global Governance".

In reviewing the annals of history, our commemoration of this day is not intended to perpetuate animosity, but rather to remain mindful of the journey that brought us here, to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives, and to never forget the profound truth that victory was won through immense hardship and that peace must be cherished above all else.
