NParks

NParks We are dedicated to transforming Singapore into a City in Nature. We also work closely with the community to enhance the quality of our living environment.

The National Parks Board (NParks) is responsible for enhancing and managing the urban ecosystems of our City in Nature. We are the lead agency for greenery, biodiversity conservation, and wildlife and animal health, welfare and management. NParks manages parks, nature reserves, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Pulau Ubin and the Sisters' Islands Marine Park. Adding to this is the extensive network o

f Nature Ways, and Park Connector Network that links major parks, nature areas and residential estates island-wide. NParks also manages millions of trees, including those along roads and in our parks, gardens and state land. NParks has developed an urban biodiversity conservation model, which aims to conserve representative ecosystems in land-scarce Singapore. NParks also monitors and coordinates measures to enhance the presence of biodiversity in our urban landscape. The Animal & Veterinary Service, a cluster within NParks, is the main touch-point for animal-related issues, as well as the first responder for animal-related feedback. By improving the standards of the animal and veterinary sectors, we aim to safeguard animal health and welfare in Singapore. NParks is working closely with partners in the landscape, horticulture, veterinary and animal sectors to increase productivity, and provide training for all levels of the workforce. Enhancing competencies of the industry will support Singaporeโ€™s vision of being a City in Nature. For more information, visit www.nparks.gov.sg

[Festival of Biodiversity 2026]

The 15th edition of the Festival of Biodiversity is here!

Today marks the launch of the biggest biodiversity festival in Singapore and an annual celebration of the communityโ€™s efforts to conserve our natural heritage.

With more than 30 booths and over 20 talks, workshops, exhibitions and game stations, thereโ€™s something for everybody to discover more about our City in Nature! In a step towards better understanding our natural ecosystems and strengthening biodiversity conservation, weโ€™re excited to share updates on our conservation efforts:

(1) Our Tropical Forest Ecology Research (TFER) programme marks its fifth anniversary this year, and the various projects have borne fruit! One of the projects led to Singaporeโ€™s largest survey of flying insects in tropical forests โ€“ we worked with researchers from National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum to establish an ecological baseline for Singaporeโ€™s insect diversity. The year-long study recovered around 140,000 unique DNA sequences, providing a crucial benchmark of the sheer scale of flying insect diversity in our forests.

(2) Building on 10 years of progress since its launch, the Nature Conservation Masterplan (NCMP) has been updated to reflect NParks' evolving priorities and expanded functions. Weโ€™re excited to continue working with the nature community to co-create initiatives that support the NCMP!

Head down to catch all the action, learn about the native biodiversity in Singapore, and check out the game stations to take home a limited-edition festival pin!

[Festival of Biodiversity 2026 โ€“ A Community that Champions Nature Conservation]

Our conservation efforts are made possible through community stewardship and collaboration with key partners in the nature community.

At this year's Festival of Biodiversity, NParks is dedicating a Heritage Tree each to Delta Electronics and GSK-EDB Trust Fund in recognition of their generous contributions towards nature conservation efforts in Singapore, including the 100k Corals Initiative and the Comprehensive Marine Biodiversity Survey II.

[Relocation of Mainland Leopard Cats in the Changi area]

NParks, in consultation with Singapore Wildcat Action Group, is planning to relocate Mainland Leopard Cats (Prionailurus bengalensis) sighted in the Changi area to more suitable habitats.๐Ÿ†

Camera trap surveys conducted by SWAG since 2025 confirmed the presence of five leopard cats in the area. With ongoing and upcoming developments in the Changi area, relocation of these cats will help better support their welfare and long-term survival. The relocation is planned to begin in the second half of 2026, to suitable habitats in other parts of Singapore.

If you spot a leopard cat, please keep a safe distance and avoid feeding or approaching the animal. For urgent wildlife assistance, call our 24-hour Animal Response Centre at 1800-476-1600.

Find out more about leopard cats and other wildcat species at SWAG's booth at the Festival of Biodiversity ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒฟ
