Desmond Tan, 55, Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Changi GRC, took to Facebook on 27 July to announce the birth of his grandson, describing the moment as “full circle fatherhood.”

In his post, Tan noted that he became a father 28 years ago, one year after his own wedding, and that his son became a father at the same age, also one year after his wedding, in the same month, and at the same hospital.

Tan shared that holding his grandson for the first time brought him and his wife back to the days of holding their own children as newborns, calling it a moment filled with joy, gratitude and hope for the future.

He congratulated his son and daughter-in-law on the arrival of their first child, expressing confidence that the couple would be amazing parents. Tan closed the post by welcoming his grandson to the world and describing him as part of a continuing family tradition.
