🇭🇺🤝🇸🇬 Nearly 30 Years of Hungary–Singapore Business Partnership

The Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Hungary in Singapore, Dr. Imola Anett Szabó, recently met with the Thakral family and the team at Thakral Brothers, gaining a closer insight into one of the longstanding business partnerships between Hungary and Singapore.

🗓️Since 1997, the Thakral Group’s ownership of Orion Electronics has brought together Singaporean entrepreneurship and Hungarian industrial heritage. With roots dating back to 1913, Orion continues to serve international markets today.

💫The visit was also an opportunity to see the strong people-centred values behind the business — a reminder that lasting partnerships are built on people, trust and long-term commitment.

🤝We thank the Thakral family and the entire team for their warm hospitality and look forward to continuing our dialogue.

🇭🇺🇸🇬 Strengthening Hungary–Singapore Relations Through Dialogue

Dr Imola Anett Szabo, Chargé d’Affaires of Hungary, recently met with the Director General and colleagues from the Europe Directorate at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

📈The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the development of Hungarian–Singaporean bilateral relations and to exchange views on key international and regional developments of mutual interest.

We greatly appreciate the open, constructive and forward-looking dialogue, which reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement between Hungary and Singapore.

The Embassy looks forward to further strengthening our bilateral ties and contributing to the continued development of close and mutually beneficial relations between Hungary and Singapore. 🤝

🇭🇺 A little piece of home, here in Singapore

This week, we celebrated 20 August, Hungary’s National Day, commemorating the founding of the Hungarian state and the legacy of St Stephen, Hungary’s first king.

🎉To mark the occasion, the Embassy of Hungary hosted a celebration bringing together around 40 members of the Hungarian community in Singapore.

Being far from home makes these occasions all the more meaningful — a chance to come together, celebrate our shared heritage, traditions and history, and connect as a community. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces gathered together.✨

With good conversations, laughter and a taste of Hungary, the evening felt like a little glimpse of home — right here in Singapore. 🇭🇺

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the celebration so special.

🇭🇺 The Hungarian Parliament has elected András Baka as the new President of Hungary.

Following his election on 11 August, President-elect Baka took his oath of office and addressed the nation in his inaugural speech.

In his address, he emphasised the importance of recognising the legitimacy of differing views and ensuring that both majority and minority positions are heard. As he stated: “Citizens with differing views are equal members of the same nation.”

President-elect Baka will take office on 19 August.

🇭🇺🇸🇬 Hungarian Innovation in Singapore’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

Dr. Imola Anett Szabo, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Hungary in Singapore, recently met with Nicolas Laurent, Semilab’s Singapore-based representative, to learn more about the company’s activities in Singapore, as well as its experience and perspectives in the semiconductor industry.

🌏Founded in Hungary in 1989, Semilab has grown into a globally active high-tech company, developing state-of-the-art metrology, measurement and inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry and other advanced technology sectors. 💻 The company maintains a direct presence in Singapore through its local office.

💡Semiconductors are at the heart of today’s technological transformation and are becoming increasingly important from both an economic and strategic perspective. It is particularly encouraging to see Hungarian technological expertise and innovation contributing to Singapore’s dynamic semiconductor ecosystem.

🇭🇺🇸🇬 Strengthening Hungary–Singapore Cooperation in Transport

In July, Dr Imola Anett Szabó, Chargé d’Affaires of Hungary, had a meeting with the Head of International Relations at Singapore’s Ministry of Transport, Singapore to discuss future opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Hungary and Singapore in the field of transport. 🤝

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange views on potential areas of cooperation and to explore ways to further deepen the strong and dynamic relationship between our two countries. 🌏

We sincerely thank the Ministry of Transport for their warm hospitality and the constructive discussions. We look forward to continuing our dialogue and working together to develop new avenues of cooperation in the transport sector.

It was a particular pleasure that the lunch took place at the The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, whose General Manager is Hungarian. This is a proud example of the valuable contribution of Hungarian professionals to international success and a reminder of the strong connections between Hungary and Singapore. 🇭🇺✨

Last week, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Dr. Imola Anett Szabó met with Mr. Péter Sasi, President of the Central European Economic Chamber (CEEC), and Ms. Dóra Csóka, Executive Director, to explore opportunities to further strengthen Hungary–Singapore economic relations. 🇭🇺🇸🇬

Since establishing its Singapore office in 2019, CEEC has been a valued partner in fostering connections between Hungarian and Singaporean businesses, promoting innovation, and supporting new opportunities for cooperation.
