🎉 On 20 July 2026, Central Division launched the inaugural Education Safety and Security Watch Group (ESSWG) at NAFA's Lee Foundation Theatre!

The ESSWG brings together SPF and 56 Institutes of Higher Learning and Private Education Institutions islandwide to strengthen community partnerships and enhance crime prevention among students. 💪

With students increasingly exposed to cybercrime, online scams, and online recruitment for illegal activities, the ESSWG aims to equip them with the knowledge to recognise risks and make informed decisions. The event also featured guest speakers from SANA and UOB on drug and scam awareness.

A big thank you to all our pioneer ESSWG members! We look forward to growing the network and keeping our communities safe together. 🤝

🚩 Can you spot the red flags?

👀You get a call from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) saying that suspicious transactions are found on your bank accounts.

👀 The "MAS officer" transfers your call to the "Police" and they now claim that you are involved in money laundering.

👀 A "Police Officer" tells you to meet with them and hand over valuables.

Remember! Government Officials, including Police officers, will NEVER ask you to transfer money or hand over valuables over the phone 👍

⚠️ Beware of Fake Job Offer Scams Targeting Crypto & Tech Professionals

😲 In this variant, scammers posed as recruiters on LinkedIn to target tech and cryptocurrency professionals. Victims are lured into fake interviews and directed to spoofed websites to complete coding assessments, where malware is unknowingly downloaded. This allowed scammers to steal credentials and siphon cryptocurrency, which resulted in losses amounting to USD11.8 million(approximately S$15 million).

Protect yourself:
• Verify recruiters and companies through official channels
• Never download files or execute code from unverified sources
• Watch out for interviewers who refuse to turn on their video

☎️ If in doubt, call the ScamShield Helpline at 1799 or visit www.scamshield.gov.sg.

🚨 Think before you invest 🚨

If an investment opportunity comes from someone you've never met in person, an unregulated company on social media or through an unknown chat group – it is likely a scam.

Always check that the company is regulated by MAS before investing. Visit these MAS websites for a list of licensed financial entities, and MoneySense for resources to help you invest safely.
