Spouses of German citizens must have basic German language skills before moving to Germany! 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️🇩🇪

However, the situation is different if you want to move to Germany with your spouse who is not German but an EU citizen: In this case, language proficiency isn’t required, as EU law prioritizes free movement of EU citizens regardless of language skills.

Fortunately, basic German language skills can be acquired more quickly than you might think!

And that's a wrap for The International Institute for Strategic Studies .

Germany’s new Military Strategy sets the course for a stronger Europe within NATO. With a commitment to build Europe’s strongest conventional armed forces, Germany is ramping up capabilities across the board, from air defence to digitalization.

Equally critical, security is built on cooperation and shared responsibility. This weekend in Singapore has once again facilitated timely discussions between Germany and our partners to make the world a safer place.

Whether you’re planning to study, work, or conduct research – sometimes the approval of a visa depends on you having certain qualifications. 📚🎓📜

If your qualifications include an academic degree from your home country, it may not automatically be recognized in Germany.

To check the comparability of your qualifications, start by visiting the website “ANABIN” of the German Conference of Ministers of Education (KMK).

Important note: Both, your degree and the issuing institution must be recognized.

You can check the recognition of your degree and institution at:
https://anabin.kmk.org/cms/public/startseite

Cann’t find your degree and/or institution on “ANABIN”? Don’t worry, this does not automatically mean your qualification won’t be recognized in Germany. The KMK offers a so-called “Statement of Comparability” in which your degree is assessed individually.

You can find the online application at:
https://zab.kmk.org/en/statement-comparability
