On the final day of the Official Visit to the People's Republic of China, Speaker Seah Kian Peng and the Singapore delegation visited the Xiaomi EV factory in Beijing.

The host also arranged a social visit for the delegation to visit the historically and culturally significant Temple of Heaven this morning.

The visit to the Xiaomi EV factory allowed delegation members to witness the application of precision engineering as well as cutting edge technology in the production of EVs.

Speaker Seah hosted an appreciation lunch attended by host government officials as well as MFA's embassy team led by Amb Peter Tan before the delegation left for the airport.

At the airport, Speaker Seah, and accompanying Singapore MPs expressed their appreciation to the Vice-Chairman of NPC's Overseas Affairs Committee Mr Cao Hong Ming, the Deputy Director-General of NPC's General Office Foreign Affairs Bureau Mr Shen Zheyi and supporting staff from the NPC for the warm and gracious hospitality as well as the excellent arrangements over the last six days covering three cities in China.

The delegation will arrive back home in Singapore late this evening after a fruitful and successful visit.

This afternoon, Speaker Seah Kian Peng had a meeting with his counterpart HE Zhao Leji, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the PRC.

This important meeting was the highlight of our parliamentary delegation visit to China, with both leaders agreeing on the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties, including through more parliamentary exchanges and dialogue.

Following the meeting, Chairman Zhao hosted a Dinner Banquet for Speaker Seah and the Singapore delegation at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Such high-level engagements serve to further strengthen our partnership, fostering mutual understanding and paving the way for continued collaboration between both legislative bodies.

Earlier this afternoon, Speaker Seah Kian Peng had a bilateral meeting with PRC Vice President HE Han Zheng.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations and reviewed various cooperative initiatives, noting that both countries celebrated the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year. The leaders also discussed other international and regional developments, and exchanged views on how to further strengthen cooperation bilaterally as well as with ASEAN.

Vice President Han assured Speaker Seah that Singapore could count on China's full support during our ASEAN Chairmanship next year.

Earlier this morning, the Singapore Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Seah Kian Peng visited the CPC Museum, where the delegation received insightful briefings on the historical milestones of the CPC. The delegation also learned about the CPC's pivotal role in shaping the People's Republic of China (PRC's) significant economic progress and development over decades.

The delegation subsequently visited Beijing Financial Street for updates about the financial ecosystem. Beijing Financial Street serves as a key and important hub for banks, financial institutions, regulatory authorities and corporations in the capital city.

While in the vicinity, the delegation visited a cultural activities centre which serves as a focal point for residents in the local community at financial street.

Speaker Seah Kian Peng, accompanied by MPs Mr Liang Eng Hwa, Ms Sylvia Lim, Ms Poh Li San, Dr Wan Rizal, Ms Elysa Chen 陈诗韵, and Mr Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari arrived in Beijing for the 3rd and final leg of Speaker's Official Visit to China this week.

Earlier this afternoon, Speaker Seah met with the Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Mr Liu Haixing. Both leaders candidly exchanged views on a wide range of topics covering both international and regional developments.

Speaker Seah and Mr Liu also discussed challenges as well as opportunities for further cooperation between both countries in the areas of trade and investment, Artificial Intelligence, and renewable energy.

After the meeting, the Singapore delegation visited Wumart Group (Dmall), which is one of China's leading digitalised retail company with extensive links to many countries in the Asia Pacific region including Singapore. Speaker Seah was pleased to reconnect with Founder of the group, Dr Zhang Wenzhong during the visit.

In the evening, the delegation attended a dinner hosted by Singapore's Ambassador to the PRC, Mr Peter Tan.

It was yet another busy and fruitful day in Fuzhou, the vibrant capital of Fujian province, for Speaker Seah Kian Peng and the Singapore delegation.

The delegation visited Maixin Biotechnology Development, Ruijie Networks and the Museum of China’s Shipbuilding Administration, gaining insights into local biomedical developments, IT digital infrastructure networks and Fuzhou's rich maritime history.

Speaker Seah, also met with the Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Mr Zhou Zuyi for a bilateral meeting.

Mr Zhou gave Speaker an update on economic developments in Fuzhou. Discussions also touched on strengthening cooperation between Fuzhou and Singapore. Mr Zhou welcomed more Singapore companies to invest in the province, building on existing strong ties in education, transport, logistics sector.

Following the meeting, Mr Zhou hosted an Official Dinner for Speaker and the Singapore delegation.

The next and final leg of Speaker's official visit to China, will be to its capital Beijing.

Led by Speaker Seah Kian Peng, the Singapore parliamentary delegation visited Luckin Coffee and ST Engineering Aerospace Technologies (Xiamen) today, to attend briefings and updates on investment plans and opportunities. The delegation also had guided tours and obtained a better understanding of the operations of these companies in Xiamen.

The highlight of the visit to Xiamen was when Speaker Seah had a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of Xiamen Municipal People's Congress Yang Guohao, during which they discussed a range of topics including strengthening relations and cooperation between both cities given Xiamen's especially given close geographic proximity.

Following the meeting, Chairman hosted the delegation an official luncheon which wraps up the visit to Xiamen and on to next leg of the visit to Fuzhou.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, Mr Seah Kian Peng, has commenced his Official Visit to the People's Republic of China (PRC), with stops in Xiamen, Fuzhou, and Beijing, from 8 to 13 June 2026. This visit, at the invitation of His Excellency Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the PRC, underscores the strong bilateral ties between Singapore and China.

Speaker Seah is accompanied by Members of Parliament (MPs): Mr Liang Eng Hwa, Ms Sylvia Lim, Ms Poh Li San, Dr Wan Rizal, Ms Elysa Chen 陈诗韵 and Mr Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari. Upon arrival in Xiamen today, the delegation immediately engaged in productive discussions and activities. They visited Jimei University and PSA Facilities, where they shared insights on academic excellence and explored areas of common operational challenges.

The delegation also had a warm reception with overseas Singaporeans and Friends, strengthening community ties. The delegation will continue their engagements in Xiamen tomorrow, visiting more Singaporean and Chinese companies, before proceeding to Fuzhou and Beijing, where they will also engage with more overseas Singaporeans, and call on Chinese leaders to further strengthen bilateral ties.

Speaker Seah Kian Peng paid a courtesy call on the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam His Excellency To Lam earlier today.

Both leaders noted that Vietnam and Singapore enjoy an excellent and longstanding friendship, built on strong political ties, robust economic links and regular exchanges at all levels.

The Parliament of Singapore shares warm and robust ties with the National Assembly of Vietnam. Both legislative bodies also work closely together in international and inter-parliamentary forums, including in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Following from the visit of the President of National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man to Singapore in December 2024, Speaker Seah is expected to visit Vietnam in December later this year to further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations.

Brunei Darussalam's Speaker of Legislative Council, the Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman Taib, is in Singapore on an Official Visit from 19 to 22 May 2026 at the invitation of Speaker Seah Kian Peng.

Earlier today, Pehin Rahman and his delegation were received at Parliament House by Speaker Seah and Members of Parliament (MPs) Mr Darryl David, Mr Dennis Tan Lip Fong 陈立峰, Ms Hazlina Abdul Halim and Ms Lee Hui Ying 李蕙莹. Both sides reaffirmed the strong and longstanding bilateral ties between Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, and held a candid exchange of views on a wide range of issues including opportunities for closer inter-parliamentary exchanges and cooperation, and the Singapore Parliament's upcoming presidency of AIPA in 2027.

Speaker Seah also hosted an official luncheon in honour of Pehin Rahman.

Pehin Rahman will also be accompanied by Speaker Seah and MP Diana Pang 彭丽燕 on a tour of Wisma Geylang Serai and visits to active ageing and early childhood centres to learn more about community engagement programmes.
