𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻! 🎮 Close to 40 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 seniors volunteers teamed up with 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 volunteers today for 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝗻! —an intergenerational gaming challenge that buzzed with cheers, laughter and friendly rivalry.

Held at Tencent Singapore’s office, the event kicked off with an icebreaker before the teams warmed up for the main event. Then came the call: “IT’S SHOWDOWN TIME!”—and 17 teams took on the challenge in an exciting elimination tournament with Supercell’s Brawl Stars.

With two seniors and one Tencent volunteer on each team, participants strategised, reacted and celebrated side by side. Along the way, seniors sharpened their quick thinking and hand-eye coordination, built digital confidence, and formed meaningful connections across generations.

We are grateful for Tencent’s long-standing support of our work. This event adds another dimension to our partnership, more than a competition, it showed that ageing is no barrier to exploring technology, learning together and enjoying the thrill of play.

🔥 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 -- Each senior received a pair of wireless earbuds to mark the occasion, while the winning teams took home trophies and NTUC FairPrice vouchers.

“The showdown is over… and we have our champions!” -- Congratulations to the winning team - Yap Sew King and Tan Tek Lien.

And to all the teams who took on the challenge today: everyone is a winner for having the courage to step forward in this first-ever intergenerational gaming challenge. The battles may be over, but the memories we made together will stay with us. Congratulations to everyone who took part!

Following the launch of the 𝗛𝗦𝗕𝗖–𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗟𝗶𝘁 𝗨𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 in Boon Lay on 26 June, where residents gained practical knowledge on scam prevention, digital and financial literacy, the programme moved into its next phase: refreshing homes of vulnerable seniors through decluttering, cleaning and painting.

Guided by staff and volunteers of 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗛𝗦𝗕𝗖 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 volunteers worked hand in hand to refresh homes across 32 sessions. During the sessions, RSVP Health Advocates shared preventive healthcare tips with seniors, empowering them to take proactive steps towards better health and well-being.

Our heartfelt thanks go to every HSBC and RSVP volunteer who rolled up their sleeves and gave so generously of their time and energy, as well as to our community partners--Habitat for Humanity Singapore and NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Boon Lay) —for making it all possible. Together, you have done more than refresh homes: you have brought warmth, encouragement and stronger community connections to seniors in Boon Lay.

We look forward to joining hands again to brighten more homes and lives across Singapore as we continue to bring this initiative to other parts of Singapore.

“𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲.” - 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝗻𝗴 hears this response at times when she shares scams awareness tips with fellow seniors. Yet 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 if we let our guard down.

Ann is one of more than 200 PRAISE Advocates with the 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲–𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘), helping seniors in our community recognise scams and adopt safer digital habits.

A heartfelt thank you to Eunoia JC and the students from the EJ Environment club for the insightful sharing on hydroponics with our senior volunteers.

It was a fun and engaging afternoon as our seniors harvested fresh vegetables with guidance from the students, and enjoyed crafts and games together.

In line with the theme "𝗨𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱" of the 55th edition of SICC's May Day Charity 2026, we are deeply honoured to be one of the 13 beneficiaries selected this year.

🚨“𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘃𝗲.” These were the words of a 68-year-old retiree who lost more than $𝟳𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 to an investment scam. His story is a stark reminder that scammers often exploit trust, emotions and hopes for a more secure retirement.

While the overall scam situation in Singapore has improved, with losses falling to $𝟰𝟭𝟬.𝟲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 from $𝟱𝟬𝟬.𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 during the same period in 2025, scams continue to cause significant financial and emotional harm to victims.

🛡️ To help seniors stay safe, RSVP volunteers from the 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘) are actively engaging seniors through community engagement sessions and outreach roadshows. Our 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 share insights on evolving scam tactics and equip seniors with practical tips to recognise scams, enabling them to stay vigilant and protect themselves and their loved ones.

✨𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁, RSVP volunteers from the 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘) have been helping seniors in our community stay safe from scams and online harms.

Among these dedicated volunteers is 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝗻𝗴. Since joining Project PRAISE in 2023, Ann has been actively engaging seniors through engagement sessions and outreach roadshows, sharing knowledge on evolving scam tactics and practical tips on recognising and avoiding scams.

Speaking to ASP Jelene Ong, Ann reflected on her journey as a PRAISE advocate, sharing how she places herself "at the frontline to guard our seniors from being scammed.” Through her engagements, she challenges the common belief that "it could never happen to me" by sharing real-life scam cases and valuable lessons learnt.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁
Sometimes, a chance meeting can open the door to meaningful change and new directions. James was working as a Services Lead in the software industry when he came to Singapore in 2001 and for him that moment came in 2024, when he attended an event hosted by “The Courage Chapter,” where RSVP Chairperson Ms Genevieve Chua was part of the main panel discussion. Inspired by her passion and energy for RSVP’s cause, James decided to find out more, and as he puts it, the rest was history.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿?
James was drawn in by what Genevieve spoke about at the panel discussion on RSVP’s work. It sparked the belief that there might be a meaningful opportunity for him to contribute as a volunteer. After meeting RSVP’s management team, he was inspired by their energy and passion, which further affirmed his decision. “I knew at that moment I wanted to be a part of this exciting journey,” he shared.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱?
One of James’s most rewarding experiences has been volunteering at the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery through RSVP's Senior Guiding Programme. Through this role, he has developed a deeper appreciation of Singapore's rich heritage while interacting with primary school students. It was through this programme that he met fellow RSVP volunteer Caroline Lim, whose generosity, dedication and unwavering commitment to volunteering at the age of 80 have inspired him to contribute even more.

As someone who enjoys meeting people, James also serves as a Meet-and-Greet volunteer at RSVP's Bishan HQ, where he welcomes seniors, assists with course registrations and enquiries, and shares information about volunteer opportunities. Most recently, he joined the Programmes, Services and Volunteer Management Committee, where he hopes to contribute his skills and experience to strengthen existing programmes and explore new initiatives.

Reflecting on his journey, James shared: "I started to believe in myself again, that I could contribute to a cause, continually learn, look after myself physically and mentally, and continue to make great new friends."

For those considering volunteering, James offers this advice: “Believe that you can contribute and add value. Be committed to the programme you choose to participate in, and value the people around you — fellow volunteers, management and staff, and beneficiaries.”

James' story is a testament to how volunteering can bring renewed purpose, meaningful friendships, lifelong learning, and opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of others while continuing to grow at every stage of life.

What a wonderful way to celebrate Singapore's 61st Birthday!🎉

Our third workshop with Down Syndrome Association - Singapore (DSA) on 1 August 2026 was filled with laughter, creativity and heartwarming family moments. Together with parents, caregivers and the dedicated volunteers from RSVP Singapore The Organisation of Senior Volunteers and DSA, our beneficiaries proudly assembled their own Singapore Harmony Bento featuring four heritage flavours — Malay Otah, Indian Curried Potatoes, Chinese Crispy Chicken Floss and Eurasian Spinach Cheese Frittata.

The excitement continued with our Milo Merdeka Shake-Shake Popcorn. It was such a hit that some beneficiaries couldn't resist finishing their popcorn before the official "shake-shake" moment! 😄

The proudest moment came when everyone posed with their handmade bento beside the sign, "I Made My Own Singapore Harmony Bento." Smiles, cheers and cameras were everywhere!
