Pasir Ris Kids Kampong

Pasir Ris Kids Kampong Families & Children have a chance to relive the good old days in this outdoor experience! We also conduct Field Trips for students.

It all began in the 60s, in a time when most families lived in villages called “kampongs” and children playing out in the open was a common scene. On rainy days, “longkangs” (the Malay word for drains) surrounding the kampongs would be flooded with water and schools of tiny fishes would swim in them. Filled with curiosity, excitement and a spirit for friendly competition, children would bring empt

y jam bottles to see who catches the highest number of fishes. As time went by and more and more kampongs were demolished to make way for urban redevelopment, this favourite hobby of many children quickly became forgotten. This inspired us with an idea to allow today’s generation of children to relive the fun and excitement of longkang fishing, and at the same time, to develop their thinking and creative skills. Since 1997, we have brought more than a decade of fun and enjoyment to many pre-school and primary school students. Through our hands-on outdoor learning activities, we have helped students widen their knowledge and improve their creative thinking as they strategise how to catch the fishes in our custom-built longkangs with just a small net and a bucket. Working together with schools, we are able to plan and conduct learning journeys that
are related to the school’s requirements. Here at Pasir Ris Kids’ Kampong, our children of today can experience the fun that our older folks have enjoyed in the past - and yet pick up critical life skills and experiences that can never be taught in textbooks or through computer games.

It has been a very diffcult 4 months for us since 31 Dec 2013. Its a very helpless situation that we are in that we are still looking for a place. Throughout this 4 months, despite not being in operation, we are still getting many calls of enquiries daily. We really feel heartened by this great support shown to us and we will continue to soldier on and find a new place as soon as possible. We thank everyone for their patience and support and welcome any help possible in this search to provide children and family with an outlet of outdoor fun and family bonding in a 'Kampong' setting! :)

I always remember a child holding her mother's hand when she was entering Kid's Kampong :" Mummy, why is the road so bumpy?"

It was a simple remark, but we also realise that it was true, all children of this generation are used to smooth and flat roads and concrete..

Dear Parents,

Being the 1st in Singapore to introduce Longkang Fishing in 1997, Pasir Ris Kid’s Kampong has come a long way in providing fun and educational learning to many children from all walks & races. Our farm not only provides children and families of an alternative to get close to nature but also to bond together.

However, due to the fact that we are unable to continue operations in our current location, we regret to inform you that Kid’s Kampong will cease operations at the end of this month (31st December 2013). We are currently still looking for a new location.

We look forward to your ‘last’ visit with your children to our premise and take some memorable photos

We have set up Pasir Ris Kids Kampong page and do “LIKE” us so that we can keep you posted on our latest news and activities!

We thank you for your support!
