Today, September 9th, baking session:

The star of the day was the Sweetened Creamer Sheet Cake — a simple yet indulgent treat. As creamy sweetness swirled into the batter, the air filled with a comforting aroma that promised something special. Each step was a shared joy: measuring, mixing, and sneaking little tastes along the way.

From mixing bowls to oven trays, the Gladiolus Girls poured love (and sweetened creamer!) into every step. The sheet cake came out warm, sweet, and ready to be shared — just like their smiles.

Btw, how many people start businesses without knowing the importance of cash flow??? You will always hear people talk about margins, profits, competition etc...

Well, statistics show that 80 percent of businesses fail simply because no one mentions cash flow. Want to learn more from our Chartered Accountant friend, Rtn Ayyappa Peteti?? Let us know. 👍

President’s Message for September 2026
Tuesday, 1 September 2026

Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

Warm Rotary greetings to everyone.

As we welcome September, Rotary observes Basic Education and Literacy Month. Education gives people the knowledge, confidence and opportunity to improve their lives, while literacy forms the foundation for lifelong learning and active participation in society. Rotary seeks to strengthen communities’ capacity to support education, reduce educational disparities and improve literacy among children and adults.

This focus is especially meaningful to our club because of our continuing partnership with Spectra Secondary School through the “Ray of Hope” project. Our engagement with the school demonstrates that supporting education goes beyond providing books or classroom resources. It also means encouraging young people, building their confidence, recognising their abilities and helping them prepare for a brighter future.

On 22 August, our members attended “Lunch for a Cause” at Spectra Secondary School. I sincerely thank Mr Tan Teck Hock, Principal of Spectra Secondary School, for his gracious hospitality. The thoughtful tour, wonderful dining experience and confidence displayed by the students reflected the very best of Spectra. The school team made us feel truly welcome, and the delightful goodie bags provided a memorable finale to a meaningful experience.

The occasion also allowed us to witness the students’ development and appreciate the dedication of the teachers and school leadership. Experiences like this remind us that when we invest in education and young people, we invest in the future of our entire community. We look forward to continuing our partnership through the “Ray of Hope” project and creating opportunities that produce lasting impact.

August was also an active month of fellowship, leadership and service for our club. Our regular club meeting was held on 13 August at the Foundation of Rotary Clubs Singapore Vocational Room. I thank all members who attended and contributed to the discussions. Our regular meetings provide important opportunities to exchange information, review our activities and collectively shape the direction of our club.

Singapore celebrated its 61st National Day on 9 August. Although our club did not organise a separate event, our members celebrated this special occasion in their own ways. As Rotarians serving in Singapore, we remain grateful for the peace, harmony, security and opportunities the nation provides. May we continue contributing through service and fellowship towards an inclusive and caring Singapore.

On 28 August, I attended the Joint Presidents’ Meeting at the Old Parliament House. These meetings provide valuable opportunities to connect with fellow club presidents and district officers, learn about district programmes, exchange ideas and identify possibilities for collaboration.

No club can address every community need alone. By sharing our experience, resources and networks, we can undertake stronger projects, reach more people and create a greater collective impact throughout District 3310. I look forward to developing some of these partnerships during the months ahead.

I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to Immediate Past District Governor Dr Shahul Ahamed for his outstanding leadership and the remarkable achievements of District 3310 during Rotary Year 2025–26. Among 533 Rotary districts worldwide, District 3310 ranked first in Endowment Fund giving and fifth in total contributions to The Rotary Foundation.

These exceptional results reflect IPDG Dr Shahul’s inspiring leadership, together with the generosity and commitment of Rotarians throughout our district. This is a proud achievement for every member of District 3310 and a powerful example of what we can accomplish when we unite behind The Rotary Foundation’s mission to do good in the world.

A major highlight of the month was the District 3310 End Polio Now Walk on 30 August, jointly hosted by the Rotary E-Club of 3310 and the Rotary Club of Singapore East. I sincerely thank President Annie and her club for their collaboration and support.

Rtn. Richard, Rtn. May Yan, Rtn. Lai Chan and I represented our club at the walk. I extend my sincere appreciation to each of them for their participation and commitment. By walking together, Rotarians renewed public awareness of Rotary’s historic promise to eradicate polio and demonstrated that our determination must continue until every child is protected.

Rotary International President Olayinka H. Babalola’s September message, “1.25 Million Is More Than a Number,” reminds us that Rotary has always been about people—not merely projects or statistics. Every member brings an individual story, talent, experience and reason for serving. Our impact becomes stronger when members feel that they genuinely belong and are given meaningful opportunities to contribute.

This message is reflected in everything we accomplished during August. Our club meeting brought members together to participate in our leadership. “Lunch for a Cause” connected us with students and educators. The Joint Presidents’ Meeting created pathways for interclub collaboration. The End Polio Now Walk united Rotarians behind a global humanitarian mission. Each occasion was ultimately about people working with people to improve lives.

As we move forward, I encourage every member to consider how their knowledge, professional experience and personal interests can contribute to our club. Let us continue strengthening our partnership with Spectra Secondary School, supporting education, participating actively in district initiatives and developing sustainable projects with other Rotary clubs.

Together, let us transform fellowship into collaboration, collaboration into meaningful service and service into lasting impact.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Mitul Md Moniruzzaman, PHF
