National Council Against Drug Abuse - NCADA

National Council Against Drug Abuse - NCADA NCADA is a citizen’s advisory council on preventive drug measures and programmes in Singapore. Thank you for your support!

We seek to harness community support and complement the promotion of programmes and research to inform the public on the dangers of drug addiction. The National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) was formed in January 1995 as an advisory council to the Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs on policies and measures necessary to curb drug abuse in Singapore and to mobilise and sustain public support for the anti-drug programmes undertaken by government departments and voluntary organisations. Together with the Home Team departments, relevant agencies and community partners, NCADA organises and coordinates anti-drug activities as well as assists other organisations, institutions, bodies and persons who are interested in tackling the drug problem. NCADA also aims to promote preventive drug education programmes to educate the public on the drug menace and rally them in support of the government’s efforts against drug abuse. While we welcome constructive feedback and civil discussions, postings which are offensive, irrelevant or breach Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct may be removed. Contact Information:

The harms of drug abuse extend far beyond the individual - families and young children bear the impact too. Children deserve to grow up safe, and that starts at home. 🏠

Drug abuse can affect anyone - regardless of background, education or profession.

Peer influence, social media, and exposure to more permissive drug cultures abroad all play a part.

The more we understand this, the better we can look out for ourselves and each other. 🤝

On 22 July 2026, NCADA Vice-Chairman Dr Chew Tuan Chiong and several NCADA members attended the Central Narcotics Bureau's (CNB's) Workplan Seminar 2026.

The seminar highlighted CNB's multi-pronged approach to Singapore's drug challenge – spanning enforcement, preventive drug education, rehabilitation, and technological innovation under CNB 2030.

As a council committed to community-based anti-drug efforts, NCADA reaffirms its partnership with CNB. Dr Chew noted, "Singapore's strongest defence against drugs is not enforcement alone, but a well-informed, resilient and united community."

Together, we build a drug-free Singapore for generations to come. 💪

What does effective drug prevention look like? For NCADA, it starts with young people themselves.

Our National Drug Perception Survey 2025 found that 90.9% of young Singaporeans would help someone they believe may be at risk of drug abuse - yet only 50.2% feel confident they know how. Closing that gap is at the heart of upstream, community-first anti-drug prevention.

The SG Youth Plan was launched last week. At NCADA, we also reaffirm our commitment to empowering young people not just to receive prevention messages, but to lead them.

In the week leading up to World Drug Day on 26 Jun 2026, Mawar Community Services brought drug prevention to life at their Anti-Drug Experiential Learning Journey - an immersive programme that took participants through drug exhibits, a mock prison cell experience, and real stories from former offenders turned community advocates.

Supported by the DrugFreeSG Fund, the programme reached members of the public across all ages, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to make drug-free choices - and reminding them that help is never far away.

Because prevention starts with people who care. 💙
