If you're in the CBD, you're technically standing where the sea used to be. Singapore's land reclamation story stretches back further than you might realise – all the way to the 1870s, when Telok Ayer Bay was filled in and the surrounding hills levelled to expand our coastline.

“Since retirement I’ve done all sorts of volunteering activities; Reunion has been one of the most enriching for me,” says National Museum Reunion Facilitator (RF) Chua Juay Yee.

Our dedicated RFs support Reunion’s senior-friendly initiatives, from conversational gallery tours to hands-on craft workshops.

Juay Yee frequently volunteers with her husband, Low Poh Choon: “You get to interact with folks from other areas, races, and abilities. It’s quite a varied experience,” he says.

“I think it’s good for seniors to come to the museum and experience something new,” adds Juay Yee.

The Art of Ageing celebrates the pioneering years of Reunion. Look out for our ongoing senior programmes at alternative spaces in the museum, as Reunion Social Space takes a temporary hiatus until mid-2027 due to museum restoration works.

Visit go.gov.sg/nmsreunion to learn more about how Reunion brings The Art of Ageing to everyone.

Join us around the Table of Superdiversity in Rasa-Tabula-Singapura, a multisensory exhibition first showcased in the Singapore Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Biennale. See how Singapore's decisions in housing, greenery, mobility, infrastructure, and public spaces all come together to support a city of overlapping needs, identities, and aspirations. Through a curated "menu" of architectural and urban planning projects, the exhibition explores how thoughtful planning and design have shaped our nation for over 60 years.

RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA
