What happens when we come together to play, move, cheer and celebrate as one community?
Our Family Big PlayOut: The Joy of Us was a milestone inclusive community family sports day that brought together around 100 families from Jalan Besar and the Central District — including persons with disabilities, caregivers, children, youths, seniors and residents from diverse backgrounds.
Co-organised by Brighton Community Church, Special Olympics Singapore and St. Joseph Institution, in collaboration with SG Cares Volunteer Centre @ Geylang, Jalan Besar, Serangoon (operated by CCSS), the event was built on a simple but powerful belief: inclusion is not about separate participation, but shared participation.
Across sports, play, performances and community activities, families of all abilities came together in the same space, and sharing the same experiences — cheering one another on, trying new things, and celebrating every achievement along the way.
We would like to thank our Guest of Honour, Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District, for gracing this milestone event and joining us in celebrating the spirit of inclusion and community.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our co-organisers, leading sponsorship partner — Sunray Woodcraft Construction Pte Ltd SUNRAY, as well as our supporting partners, HWA (Formerly Handicaps Welfare Association), Little Footprints Preschool (Balestier & Bishan) and LASALLE College of the Arts
Last but not least, thank you to every family, participant, volunteer, partner and supporter who showed up with open hearts and a willingness to play, connect and celebrate together. Because when everyone has a place to belong, the joy is bigger when we share it.
Here’s to more moments where every ability is celebrated, every person is welcomed, and every community can play together. ❤️
