⚓ Happy Teachers’ Day, NASfam!⚓

Our hall transformed into the Straits of Ngee Ann for our Teachers’ Day 2026 celebration! ⛵

Teachers sailed in as sailors, pirates, sharks and lifeguards, department by department, before being treated by performances from our Chinese Orchestra, Choir, Wushu, Dance and Pop & Jazz CCAs. Teachers and students then teamed up for a fun Jellyfish Head Bump balloon challenge, right before our 2026 Teacher of the Year Awards were presented. 🏆🎈

Back in their form classes, the celebrations continued, with our class leaders organising games and activities to give their teachers an extra-special Teachers’ Day, full of joy and laughter! 🎉

To every teacher who guides and believes in us: thank you for always lighting the way 💛 To every colleague in Ngee Ann, thank you for your dedicated support to our teachers in making NAS our Home to Grow In🩵.

Happy Teachers’ Day! One Team, One NAS, One Family!🎉🎉

Friendship across borders 🇯🇵🇸🇬: last week, we welcomed our friends from Mihama, Japan, to Ngee Ann Secondary School! 🎉 This exchange builds on a longstanding partnership between our two schools, strengthened over many years.

On day 1, our Mihama friends got a taste of life in Singapore, from the welcome ceremony and buddy sessions to hands-on experiences such as playing the angklung, appreciating the arts, and taking part in our SDE programmes 🎶. The day wrapped up with a photography session 📸 and a CCA experience at our parade square.

On day 2, our Mihama friends interacted with NAS students through sports, experienced Singapore’s unique food culture 🍜, and explored the streets of Chinatown, taking in its vibrant sights and rich cultural heritage.

Our students stepped up as gracious hosts and ambassadors of NAS and Singapore 🙌, building cross-cultural friendships and learning more about each other’s way of life along the way. 🌏

Here’s to many more years of friendship between NAS and Mihama! 🤝

🎷🥁 On 18th July, our NAS Concert Band took the stage at Festive Plaza, OTH, for the PAssionArts Festival Open Stage Band Competition 2026! We are proud to announce that our NAS Band has received the 3-star achievement! ⭐⭐⭐

🎼 More than just an award, it was a priceless opportunity for our members to grow together as a band. For our Sec 1s and new band members, it was their very first time stepping onto a major public stage, which was a brand new experience that they tackled with pure courage and enthusiasm!

From the expressive melodies of "Bunga Sayang" to the explosive energy of "Phoenix Overture", the band poured their hearts into every note and delivered a memorable performance. 🎶🔥

💛 A huge THANK YOU to our NASians, teachers, family and friends who came down to cheer us on. Your loud cheers from the crowd made all the difference! 💙

Here’s to learning, growing and making music together. Onward to the next stage! 💪✨

🌟Value Creating for our Community, Our Home🫶🏻🇸🇬 Part 2!

At Ngee Ann Secondary, Values in Action goes beyond the classroom. It comes alive through the meaningful contributions of our students and parents.

On 23 May, our Secondary 2 student volunteers partnered with SBS Transit and the Singapore Kindness Movement to encourage gracious behaviour among commuters at Tampines MRT station. 🚆✨ Through warm conversations and thoughtful interactions, they helped spread kindness in everyday spaces.

Their passion and confidence did not go unnoticed. Following their outstanding efforts, our students were invited to support the launch of the Dementia To-Go Points initiative on 1 June at Radin Mas Community Centre, where they helped to raise awareness of how public transport can become more inclusive and supportive for commuters living with dementia. We are incredibly proud of our students for demonstrating empathy, initiative and the courage to make a positive difference in the community. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to our students and community partners for showing us that Values in Action is more than giving back—it is about building connections, inspiring compassion and creating a stronger, kinder community together. ❤️

🌟Value Creating for our Community, Our Home🫶🏻🇸🇬

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday this August, it is a great time to look back and remind ourselves how we can build towards a “We First” society together. Indeed, over the last few months, our S2 and 3 NASians have been stepping up in ways to value create for the community.

Using Design Thinking as a guide, our NASians met up with our partner organisations, understood their needs and designed a series of activities to engage the beneficiaries. Our Sec 2s took turns to visit United Medicare and NTUC Health Active Ageing centre, where they carried out activities from simple crafts, to games, to spending time to bond with the elderly there. Our Sec 3s also initiated their own VIA projects, tailoring their activities to the needs of organisations like AWWA, St Andrew’s Autism School and PCF Sparkletots.

Our NASians learnt more about what it means to care for others, and they also took away rich learning on how to empathise, connect with and put others before self.

The best part? When we say value creators, we see our parents role modelling this for their children too. Our Parent Support Group also ran their outreach activity with residents at Kheng Chiu Happy Lodge, when they spent time, played games and shared lots of fun and laughter.

🫶🏻🩵💛We are grateful for all our parents and NASians who come together to live the spirit of what it truly means to Value Create for the community. Let us continue to inspire others through our actions!✨

🤖💡 AI is a powerful tool, but only when we use it wisely.

Our Secondary 1 NASians, Howard Tanoto, Jayden Choo and Shawn Lew from 1CO, took to the morning assembly stage to share thoughtful insights on the responsible use of generative AI in learning. 🎤

Beyond highlighting how AI can sometimes produce responses that sound convincing but are not always accurate, they also explored the environmental impact of excessive AI usage. 🌱 They also reminded us that responsible digital habits go beyond the screen. 📱

Their key takeaway for every NASian?

✨ Use AI to assist you, but not be you. ✨

This meaningful sharing is part of their journey in the National Library Board (NLB)’s Prove It! Contest 2026, a national news and information literacy competition. 📰 We wish the team all the very best as they continue to think critically, question boldly, and represent NAS with confidence! 💙👏

❤️🤍 Happy 61st Birthday, Singapore! 🇸🇬

This morning, the Ngee Ann family came together to celebrate our nation’s birthday through a meaningful blend of tradition, reflection and creativity.

The day began at the parade square, where our Uniformed Groups and Concert Band led us in a proud rendition of the National Anthem and the recitation of the Pledge. 💛💙 Back in the classrooms, our students engaged in thoughtful discussions about Singapore’s future, discussing real-world issues with maturity, empathy and respect for diverse perspectives.

The celebrations culminated in a vibrant concert in the MPH! 🎉 From our Choir’s beautiful opening performance to an interactive quiz - complete with spontaneous NDP sing-alongs - the atmosphere was filled with energy and school spirit. We were also inspired by our Sec 3 students, who showcased their creativity by designing and modelling costumes that expressed what Singapore means to them. 👏✨

The celebration ended on a heartfelt note as the entire hall came together to sing Kit Chan’s Home. It was a powerful reminder of the shared memories, hopes and sense of belonging that unite us as one nation.

Majulah, Ngee Ann! Majulah, Singapura! 🇸🇬
