✨ Stronger Together: Building a Healthier, Happier Community ✨

A massive thank you to the incredible team from the 5th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (5 SIR)! Earlier this month, 360 seniors from Jurong Central participated in our 2nd round of Play and Makan, supported by 185 volunteers from 5 SIR. The event was filled with much joy and laughter—the best kind of medicine for the soul!

Beyond the fun, these meaningful intergenerational connections do so much more; they truly inspire and encourage our seniors to take greater ownership of their own health, wellbeing, and active aging journey.

We truly witnessed the energy, dedication, and warmth of our nation's defenders which will leave many unforgettable memories for our seniors. Thank you 5 SIR for reminding us that guarding our home goes hand-in-hand with uplifting the hearts within it.

We look forward to more meaningful partnerships ahead!

A meaningful harvest at Fuhua Primary School.

A few days ago, Fuhua Primary School welcomed Minister for Education, Mr Desmond Lee, together with MP for Jurong Spring, Dr Hamid Razak, for a visit to the school’s community garden - a partnership between Loving Heart and the school that has quietly grown over the past 4–5 years.

Led by our senior volunteers and Loving Heart staff, Mr Neo, students shared their gardening journey, sustainability lessons, and harvest with the visiting team, who also brought home fresh vegetables from the garden.

Minister Lee highlighted the value of community partnerships in education, intergenerational bonding, and lifelong learning for schools and communities.

For Loving Heart and Fuhua Primary, the visit was an honour. More importantly, it affirmed that when schools and communities come together with purpose, small ground-up efforts can grow into something deeply meaningful over time.

There has been so much talk about community-based health delivery systems, something that Loving Heart has been building capacity in.

We were very honoured to share our journey with participants from the 7th Singapore Nurse Leaders Programme (SNPL), who spent time in Yuhua to see what community care looks like on the ground.
What the nurses saw was not theory, but real life. Seniors continue their routines despite physical challenges. Familiar faces at neighbourhood spaces looking out for one another. Small, everyday interactions that help people stay independent.

They also learned how community carers are trained and supported to play a meaningful role, and how programmes like Yuhua Community Compass and Knowing Heart provide regular, person-focused support for seniors, including those who are frail or living with early dementia.
One reflection stood out. In clinical care, the instinct is often to do more. But in the community, there is also value in knowing when to step back - so that dignity, confidence, and independence are preserved.
This brings us to an important question. What helps people continue coping after discharge, when formal care steps back?

This is where community care plays an important role - and where a stronger understanding between healthcare and the community is needed.
We are grateful to be part of this shared learning journey and to contribute towards care that is more connected to how people actually live.

“Care does not end at discharge. It continues where people live.”

If you would like to partner with us or step forward as a community carer, we welcome you to connect with us.

We are so grateful for the support from Gain City! Their donation of a retrofitted minivan will directly impact our outreach efforts at Loving Heart. Kindness truly starts with all of us, and this partnership helps us nurture that spirit across the community.

Celebrating Togetherness at Our CNY Senior Party!

This Lunar New Year, our seniors, volunteers, and community came together for a special celebration filled with joy, energy, and meaningful connections.

Adaptive Sports in Action
Powered by Our Volunteers! Our amazing volunteers from 210 led a series of adaptive sports activities designed to keep our seniors active, engaged, and confident. From gentle movements to fun team-based challenges, everyone participated at their own pace (proving that staying active has no age limit! )

Bonding Over Communal Dining
Nothing brings people together like food! Our communal dining session was packed with laughter, conversation, and heartwarming moments as seniors reconnected with old friends and made new ones.

Building an Active, Connected, and Caring Community. Events like this remind us of the importance of staying active, staying social, and supporting one another. A huge thank you to all volunteers and partners who made this celebration meaningful and memorable.

No one should feel unseen.

Loving Heart is stepping into community care with our new No More Undetected Deaths initiative - training volunteers to build connections and look out for seniors who may be living alone. Because ageing with dignity means being seen, heard, and cared for.

“Even one undetected death is one too many,” says Prof Teng Su Ching, president of Loving Heart.
Every small act — a friendly visit, a phone call, a simple “How are you?” — can make a life-changing difference.

Let’s bring back the kampung spirit — block by block.
