[Sounding of SCDF’s Island-wide Public Warning System]

The "Important Message" signal will be sounded on 15 September 2026 at 6:20pm through the Public Warning System (PWS) sirens and smartphones with the SGSecure mobile app installed.

Members of the public connected to the Singtel network will also receive an SG Alert on their mobile phones. During an emergency, SG Alert complements the PWS by quickly alerting the public and providing information on actions to take.

[NFEC Mass Fire Evacuation Drill 2026]

Yesterday (3 Sep), the NFEC Mass Fire Evacuation Drill (MFED) was held at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital @ Potong Pasir. This marks the start of a month-long campaign to promote fire safety and emergency preparedness in commercial and industrial premises.

Organised by the NFEC and supported by the Singapore Civil Defence Force, more than 110,000 participants from over 450 premises will be conducting the MFEDs at their respective premises throughout September.

The fire evacuation drill commenced with a simulated fire scenario involving a fire at one of the wards. The hospital’s Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) provided the first response before the arrival of SCDF. The CERT continued to work with SCDF to extinguish the fire and also ensured the safe evacuation of all staff and residents.

These MFEDs play a crucial role in validating emergency response plans and evacuation procedures, including creating awareness and familiarising participants with what to do during an emergency. The NFEC would like to thank all participants for their support in this drill, and we look forward to continue working together to elevate fire safety and emergency preparedness standards in Singapore.
