Ambassador Darius Gaidys concluded his farewell visit to Vietnam with a series of meetings reaffirming the growing Lithuania-Vietnam partnership.

He met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van, who highlighted the importance of expanding ties across government and business, as well as opportunities in green energy, infrastructure, fintech, and electronics.

The meeting with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long, responsible for energy, focused on practical cooperation, including Lithuania’s potential involvement in the ASEAN Power Grid project and LNG development.

The Ambassador also met Nguyen Anh Tuan, President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), to discuss LNG and electricity grid infrastructure.
The visit once again confirmed that consistent engagement and dialogue are delivering results. Lithuania-Vietnam relations continue to gain momentum, with new opportunities emerging for deeper cooperation.

We are happy to share that Fr. Venus from the Church of Divine Mercy Singapore recently led a pilgrimage of 45 pilgrims to Lithuania and Poland from 26 May to 5 June 2026.

A special highlight of the journey was Lithuania, particularly Vilnius, the birthplace of the Divine Mercy devotion. Fr. Venus celebrated Mass twice at the Shrine of Divine Mercy, offering pilgrims a deeply spiritual opportunity for prayer and reflection.

The group also attended Holy Mass at the historic Kaunas Cathedral Basilica, where Arūnas Karlonas from the Embassy of Lithuania attended the Mass and met with the pilgrimage group.

For many pilgrims, one of the most meaningful moments was praying before the original Divine Mercy image of Jesus. Being in the presence of this sacred image was a profoundly moving and humbling experience, inspiring deep reflection and touching many hearts.

We are delighted to see the growing spiritual and people-to-people connections between Singapore and Lithuania, and we hope this pilgrimage leaves all participants with lasting memories and renewed faith.🙏

🇱🇹 Last weekend, Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, Robertas Kaunas, participated in the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Asia’s premier defence summit.

Addressing participants, Minister Kaunas emphasized that today’s security challenges transcend regional boundaries, making international cooperation a strategic necessity.

💬 “Hybrid pressure operating at the threshold of armed attack is not a challenge faced only by Europe. The same logic and structure, employing different tools, can also be observed in the Asia-Pacific region,” the Minister noted.

On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Kaunas met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, leadership of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, and the Defence Ministers of Singapore, Australia, and Japan.

To strengthen practical defence cooperation, Singapore’s ST Engineering was officially invited to conduct testing of its advanced counter-drone system in Lithuania.
