As we celebrate this milestone, we’re grateful for the opportunities that have allowed King Fire to grow alongside an ever-changing fire protection industry.

Over the years, we have continued to:
• Raise awareness of EV fire safety solutions as electric vehicles become an increasingly important part of our roads and infrastructure.

• Adopt new technologies and solutions to keep pace with evolving risks, regulations and the changing needs of the industry.

• Develop customised solutions for challenging projects, including helping clients across the F&B and hospitality sectors address complex fire protection requirements with solutions tailored to their operations.

Every challenge, partnership and project has played a part in shaping who we are today.

And we’re only getting started.

Day 2 at Secutech Vietnam 2026!

Another exciting day for King Fire as we continue connecting with leaders and professionals from across Vietnam’s fire protection industry.

We were honoured to welcome Mr Nguyen Do Tung Cuong, President of the Vietnam Fire and Rescue Association (VFRA), to the booth.

We shared more about our fire protection solutions, including EV FirePro and its role in strengthening EV fire preparedness.

We are also proud to have King Fire’s EV FirePro white paper published in VFRA’s 2026 enterprise directory/guide, highlighting our approach to addressing EV battery fires in car parks through targeted under-vehicle cooling as a first layer of defence.

It is encouraging to see EV fire safety becoming an increasingly important part of conversations around the future of fire protection in the region.

Are there fire hazards in our homes that we may be overlooking?

With at least 11 residential fires reported across Singapore since July, King Fire Managing Director and certified Fire Safety Manager Kelvyn Ong recently spoke with CNA938 about how we can better protect our homes from fire.

From everyday habits and potential ignition sources to stopping a fire from spreading, Kelvyn shares insights on the risks homeowners should know about and why fire prevention starts long before an emergency happens.

Some simple but important considerations include:
• Keeping potential heat and ignition sources away from combustible materials
• Avoiding overloaded electrical sockets and unsafe charging practices
• Keeping escape routes and common areas clear
• Having appropriate fire safety equipment readily accessible
• Knowing what to do if a fire does break out

A fire can turn life-threatening in just minutes.

On 1 September, a fire broke out in the living room of a third-floor flat at Block 8 Lorong Lew Lian.

A 68-year-old resident was found unconscious and later passed away.

Three others were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and breathlessness, while about 30 residents were evacuated as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This incident also reminds us that smoke can be just as dangerous as the flames themselves.

At home, fire preparedness can make a critical difference:
• Ensure smoke or fire detection systems are working properly
• Keep escape routes and doorways clear
• Have suitable fire safety equipment readily accessible
• Know your evacuation route and get to safety quickly if a fire cannot be controlled safely
• Never re-enter a smoke-filled or burning unit
• Call SCDF

Our thoughts are with the family of the resident who passed away and everyone affected by the incident.

731 Hyundai Avante Hybrid cars in Singapore are being recalled over a potential fire risk.

The issue involves an overheating component in the vehicle’s power control unit, which could cause thermal damage and, in some cases, fire.

It’s another reminder that as hybrid and electric vehicles become more common, fire preparedness needs to keep pace.

For premises that accommodate EVs and hybrids, consider:
• EV-specific fire safety measures
• Suitable containment and response equipment
• Clear emergency procedures
• Proper staff training and awareness

Lithium-ion battery incidents can behave differently from conventional vehicle fires, so the right preparation matters.

If you notice smoke, unusual smells, overheating or warning signs from a vehicle, move to a safe location, exit the vehicle and keep your distance.

A vehicle fire can escalate quickly, even during an ordinary drive.

On 25 August, a GetGo car caught fire along Lornie Highway near MacRitchie Reservoir.

The fire involved the vehicle’s engine compartment, producing thick black smoke before SCDF extinguished the blaze.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Incidents like this remind us that vehicle fire safety and emergency preparedness matter.

If you notice smoke, a burning smell or signs of a fire while driving:

🚗 Pull over safely and switch off the engine
🔥 Exit the vehicle and move to a safe distance
📞 Call 995 immediately
⚠️ Do not attempt to open the bonnet if there is a significant fire, as the additional oxygen may intensify the flames
🧯 Only attempt to extinguish a small, manageable fire if it is safe to do so, and you have the appropriate equipment

Knowing how to react in those first few moments can help protect you, your passengers and other road users.

Fire safety. Security. Access control. Building management.

A building can have multiple systems working well on their own.

However, when they operate separately, managing them becomes more complex, with different platforms and information spread across multiple systems.

The opportunity is not simply to add more technology. It is to make existing systems 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.

Four fatal fires in just 19 days have raised an important question: are our elderly and less mobile residents adequately prepared to evacuate during a fire?

Between 28 July and 16 August, four fatal fires occurred in HDB estates across Singapore.

All four victims were seniors aged 65 to 88, and around 220 people were evacuated across the incidents.

For elderly residents and those with mobility difficulties, an emergency evacuation can be particularly challenging.

Smoke, confusion, and stress can make existing mobility, hearing, or visual limitations even harder to manage.

Fire preparedness therefore needs to consider those who may require additional assistance.

Simple steps can make a difference:
• Keep corridors, doorways and escape routes clear of clutter
• Ensure family members know what to do and where to go during an emergency
• Identify elderly or mobility-impaired household members who may require assistance
• Check that smoke alarms and other fire safety equipment are in working condition
• Build awareness among family members and neighbours, so help can be provided quickly when needed

Fire safety must be inclusive.

An evacuation plan is only effective when it considers everyone who may need to use it.

Protecting our elderly and vulnerable residents requires preparedness not only within individual homes, but across families and communities.
