An international audience got a taste of Singapore’s living heritage last month!

London's historic Battersea Power Station saw the debut of the Singapore Pavilion at London Craft Week 2026 with Future Craft, our largest-ever collective showcase of local living heritage practitioners at an overseas pavilion.

Featuring the works of 15 heritage craft and design practitioners – 11 of whom presented accompanying public programmes – the showcase highlighted craft forms as diverse as metalworking, lacquerworking, bird cage-making, rangoli, lion dance, beading, embroidery, ceramics and the kebaya.

Thank you to all our incredible practitioners, collaborators, and everyone who visited us at Battersea!

Vesak Day is a time for reflection, compassion and remembrance — values that continue to resonate across generations and communities in Singapore.

As temples welcome devotees for prayer and quiet contemplation, the occasion also reminds us of the enduring role that faith, traditions and shared spaces have played in Singapore’s cultural landscape.

Wishing all who celebrate a peaceful and meaningful Vesak Day!

⛵🤿🪸 From metal betel cutters to charming porcelain makaras, objects excavated from two shipwrecks in Singapore’s waters have revealed intimate details about the way people in the past lived and the vast movement of goods across oceans and continents.

At NHB, a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists, conservators, and collection managers diligently works to clean, conserve, analyse, and store these finds while developing Singapore's archaeological capabilities.
