Joined religious leaders and guests at the Inter-Religious Organisation Singapore (IRO) National Day Observance Ceremony. While we may come from different faiths, we spoke in one voice singing our National Anthem and reciting the Pledge, and committing to do our part in strengthening religious harmony through the IRO Declaration and Invocation.

Our diversity is a source of strength. We must continue to practise compassion and respect for one another across faiths to remain strong and united, regardless of race or religion.

I thank the IRO for your efforts in fostering inter-religious harmony and strengthening our social cohesion.

Paid a visit to the worksite of the new Punggol North Community Club yesterday. Construction is progressing on schedule, and we are looking forward to open its doors early next year, so residents can enjoy the wide variety of facilities and programmes we have to offer.

Happy to spend my Saturday with residents in Punggol. The line up for each weekend may look different, but what’s common every time is the warmth and sense of fulfilment as I get to meet with residents and see how we can .

All this would not be possible without the hard work of my team and our residents who are so willing and enthusiastic to build community with us.

Stopped by a cafe at Punggol Coast Mall for a short coffee break in between events. I drink coffee everyday but it’s my first time appearing on one!

Had a great time at the Punggol Waterfront cluster estate party last weekend. We ate, we laughed and got to know each other.

These interactions help us go beyond being just neighbours to friends, and towards building a strong community.

Residents and Grassroots Advisers from as well as Sengkang GRC continued our National Day celebrations with a Family Night Out at Universal Studios Singapore last weekend🌏

It was a night of electrifying rides, exciting shows, and more importantly quality time for families to spend together. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and made many fun memories!

Congratulations to the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS) on your 70th anniversary!

Economics has an important role in a more complex world. Over the years, the ESS has brought economists, policymakers and practitioners together to test ideas, share perspectives and contribute to a better Singapore.

At the dinner, I joined a wide-ranging dialogue moderated by ESS President Professor Euston Quah. We discussed issues ranging from Singapore’s ageing population and fertility rate, to economic developments, trade, and upskilling our workforce.

We must continue to stay open and relevant to the world while deepening our capabilities and building up a strong base of talent. This is how we can seize opportunities and adapt as the environment around us changes. I thank the ESS for organising and facilitating fruitful dialogues and initiatives that encourage more to take an interest in economic issues around the world.

Sharing some highlights from my recent trip to the US, where I met with government officials and business leaders to discuss the economic outlook and ongoing issue of tariffs imposed by the US.

Such regular engagements are necessary for both sides to set out our positions and considerations, and find ways we can better work together.

Investing in these connections today builds the foundation for tomorrow’s growth and cooperation.

Wrapped up my visit to the US today, it was a short but fulfilling trip.

I got to reconnect with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and meet the new Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Christopher Phelan. We spoke about how we can deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest and reaffirmed the strong partnership between our countries.

As PM Lawrence Wong said at this year’s National Day Rally, we must continue to stay relevant, deepen our links with the world and create more opportunities for Singaporeans.

PM Lawrence Wong announced various measures to support families at every stage at tonight’s National Day Rally, among other moves to prepare Singapore for the long term. He also spoke about Singapore must stay connected and relevant even in a changed world.

This is a must for us - so we can continue to ensure our people reap the benefits in the form of good jobs and opportunities.

I will be flying tonight to meet my counterparts and business leaders in the US, to discuss how we can build on our strong trade and investment ties and deepen cooperation. Looking forward to a fruitful time!
