On separate occasions on 8 and 9 June 2026, H.E. Ambassador Swahiba H. Mndeme held cordial meetings with H.E. Gladys Neven Lundwe, Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to Sweden, and H.E. Francisco Neto Antonio Novela, Ambassador of the Republic of Mozambique to Sweden, to discuss matters of mutual interest and further strengthen diplomatic ties.

The engagements provided an opportunity to reflect on the strong bilateral relations that Tanzania enjoys with both countries and to exchange views on areas of common interest. The Ambassadors reiterated the importance of continued collaboration within the framework of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as a key vehicle for promoting regional integration, economic growth, and sustainable development.

On 9 June 2026, H.E. Ambassador Swahiba H. Mndeme had the honor of being received by Dr. Andreas Norlén, Speaker of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag), as part of the longstanding tradition of welcoming newly accredited ambassadors to the Kingdom of Sweden.

H.E Ambassador Swahiba H. Mndeme was pleased to meet Mr. Nassor S. El - Mahruki, Tanzania Investor who is the Executive Director of Mnarani Beach Cottages in Nungwi, Zanzibar, and Pemba Eco Lodge on Shamiani Island in Pemba and a renowned Tanzanian sailor, to discuss the growing importance of tourism, hospitality, and marine-based recreation in Tanzania.

During their meeting, Ambassador Swahiba commended Mr. El-Mahruki for his valuable investments in the tourism and hospitality sectors, which contribute significantly to Tanzania’s economic growth. She further praised him for his dedication to promoting marine tourism and sailing, helping showcase Tanzania’s rich coastal heritage and vast opportunities in the blue economy. Through his investment and his passion as a Sailor, he is immensely contributing to attract greater international interest in Tanzania’s coastal and island as world-class tourism destination.

On 5 June 2026, Her Excellency Swahiba Mndeme, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Sweden, met with Tanzanian PhD students from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Ardhi University (ARU), and the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), who are currently undertaking a study visit to Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

This study visit, organized by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), is part of the two-month sub-program titled Sustainable Water and Sanitation for All (SUWASAN). Each participant represents a distinct discipline within the program, including Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Urban Planning. The visit focuses on capacity building and fostering technological innovation in sustainable sanitation and urban planning for vulnerable communities, leveraging Swedish expertise in clean energy technologies.

Ambassador Mndeme warmly welcomed the students to the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania. She commended their research efforts and shared a brief history of Tanzania, highlighting the 65-year partnership between Tanzania and Sweden. Ambassador Mndeme assured the students that the Embassy remains accessible to support them as needed. H.E. Ambassador Swahiba Mndeme was delighted to meet with H.E. Angeline Musili, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the Kingdom of Sweden to exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the two Ambassadors recalled the strong relations and special bond between Tanzania and Kenya as neighbouring countries whose peoples, economies, and histories are closely intertwined. These relations continue to serve as a pillar for cooperation within the East African Community and beyond.

The meeting also highlighted the vital role of Embassies abroad in working together to advance shared interests, support regional integration, strengthen diplomatic engagement and promote trade and investment opportunities.

Today, 1st June 2026, the Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Sweden, H.E. Swahiba Mndeme, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Sinisa Grgić, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Sweden and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Sweden.

Ambassador Grgić warmly welcomed Ambassador Mndeme, and their discussions highlighted the longstanding friendship between Tanzania and Croatia and reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further deepen their cooperation. The two Ambassadors also underscored their shared determination to strengthen bilateral relations and promote mutually beneficial partnerships in areas of common interest.

During the meeting, H.E. Grgić also shared valuable insights from his diplomatic service in Sweden, highlighting opportunities to strengthen international cooperation.

Ambassador Mndeme expressed her appreciation for Ambassador Grgić’s extensive knowledge of Tanzania. Mheshimiwa Balozi Swahiba Mndeme amefanya mkutano na Watanzania waishio nchini Sweden tarehe 30 Mei 2026 katika viwanja vya Ofisi ya Ubalozi wa Tanzania jijini Stockholm.

Lengo la mkutano huo lilikuwa kwa Balozi Swahiba kufahamiana na Wanadiaspora, kujadili mipango na mikakati ya Nchi ya kimaendeleo, kujadilia masuala ya Diaspora na kuwasilisha salamu za Mheshimiwa Dkt. Samia Suluhu Hassan, Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.

Katika Mkutano huo, Balozi Swahiba alieleza vipaumbele vya Serikali atakavyovisimamia wakati wa utekelezaji wa majukumu yake ya Balozi wa Tanzania Nchini Sweden na katika nchi zingine atakazoziwakilisha ambazo ni Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania na Ukraine. Aidha, Balozi Swahiba alibainisha kuwa moja ya vipaumbele vyake ni kuimarisha ushiriki wa Diaspora katika maendeleo ya Tanzania kwa kutumia ujuzi, maarifa na uzoefu wao.

Vilevile aliahidi kuendelea kutoa kipaumbele kwa kukuza na kueneza matumizi ya lugha ya Kiswahili katika eneo la uwakilishi wake, hususan kwa kuwezesha upatikanaji wa vitabu na vifaa vya kufundishia lugha hiyo.

Aidha, Alisisitiza umuhimu wa Watanzania waishio nje ya nchi kutumia ushawishi wao katika kukuza biashara, kuvutia uwekezaji nchini na kutangaza vivutio vya utalii vya Tanzania.

Balozi Swahiba pia, aliwahimiza wanadiaspora kuendelea kuwa na mshikamano na kuunganisha nguvu zao kupitia chombo kimoja kitakachorahisisha uratibu wa masuala yao. Pia aliwataka kuendelea kuisemea vyema Tanzania na kudumisha uzalendo ili kuendeleza taswira chanya ya nchi katika ngazi ya kikanda na kimataifa.

Wakati wa Mkutano huo masuala mbalimbali yanayohusu diaspora ikiwemo suala la Hadhi Maalum, sheria ya mirathi kwa wanadiaspora pale wazazi au ndugu zao wanapofariki dunia nchini, huduma mbalimbali za Kikonseli yalijadiliwa.

Mheshimiwa Balozi aliwahimiza wanadiaspora kushiriki kikamilifu katika shughuli mbalimbali zinazoratibiwa na Ubalozi, ikiwemo maadhimisho ya Siku ya Kiswahili Duniani yatakayofanyika mwezi Julai 2026 pamoja na Serengeti Bonanza, litakalofanyika jijini Stockholm mwezi Agosti 2026.

On 29th May 2026, the Embassy of Tanzania in Sweden coordinated and participated in Africa Day 2026 "Cultural Celebration", held at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Stockholm. The guest of honor was Ambassador Johan Frisell, Director of the Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, accompanied by other government officials including President Olle Burell of Stockholm City.

The celebration honored the richness and diversity of Africa's cultural heritage through traditional music, dance, and cuisine, representing the unity of the 22 African missions in Stockholm. It also promoted mutual understanding and further strengthened the cordial relations between Sweden and the African diplomatic community.

On 28 May 2026, the Embassy of Tanzania participated in the Africa Day 2026 Business Seminar in Stockholm, held under the theme "Africa-Nordic Synergies for Sustainable Growth". The Guest of Honour was Hon. Johan Forssell, Minister of Immigration. The seminar promoted investment, trade, dialogue, and sustainable partnerships between Africa and Sweden.

The Embassy facilitated the participation of Tanzanian companies, including Monty Glow and McMartha Collections in the beauty and wellness sector, JJ Growers in the agribusiness sector, and Lifetime Safaris in the tourism sector. Their engagement included B2B meetings with Swedish counterparts to explore practical areas of cooperation. In collaboration with partners such as Business Sweden, Impact Hub Stockholm, and Afrika Hub, the Embassy further strengthened Tanzania’s profile as a reliable partner and attractive destination for Swedish trade and investment. The seminar will be followed by the Africa Day cultural ceremony on 29 May 2026 in Stockholm.

Lengo la jukwaa hilo lilikuwa kuimarisha ushirikiano kati ya Afrika na Estonia kupitia ubunifu wa pamoja katika teknolojia.

Mgeni rasmi katika jukwaa hilo alikuwa Mheshimiwa Margus Tsahkna, Waziri wa Mambo ya Nje wa Estonia. Ujumbe wa Tanzania katika mkutano huo uliongozwa na Dkt. Angelina Misso, Mkurugenzi Msaidizi wa Masuala ya Mifumo kutoka Wizara ya Mawasiliano na Teknolojia ya Habari.
