Former children’s TV host Smaragda returns to her late mother’s home in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. As she navigates social media fame and backlash, she unexpectedly finds herself working as a children’s entertainer at a tourist resort—far from the life she once imagined.

The Embassy of Cyprus has the pleasure of inviting you to the Europafestivalen, which is taking place on May 9 at Kungsträdgården in celebration of Europe Day, from 11:00 to 18:00.

During the day, we are delighted to present the Dancers of Χορευτικός Όμιλος Ρύμβος from Cyprus, who will perform between 12:45 and 12:55.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in traditional lefkaritiko embroidery making workshops, which have inspired the design of the Cyprus EU Council Presidency logo.

Throughout the day, we will be serving Cypriot snacks and drinks. There will also be traditional Cypriot children’s games and more.

If you are interested in participating in the lace-making workshop, please email us, and we will get back to you with available time slots. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Call for Entries 16th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus

The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture together with the Rialto Theatre invite filmmakers to submit their short films to the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus.

The festival celebrates the art of cinema by presenting a rich and diverse programme of short films from around the world. It highlights filmmakers who use creative storytelling and cinematic language in powerful and original ways.

Submissions are open for both international and national competition sections in fiction, documentary, experimental, student and animation categories. Films must have a maximum duration of 30 minutes and can be submitted via shortfilmdepot.com and filmfreeway.com.

In the National Competition, Cypriot films compete for both national and international awards. Cypriot directors living in Cyprus or abroad are eligible, and all films must be Cyprus premieres.

In the International Competition, the festival is part of the European Film Academy network and has the opportunity to nominate one short film for the European Film Academy Awards. Awards are decided by a five member international jury from the film industry.

The festival will take place at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol from 10 to 16 October 2026.

Deadline for submissions is 2 May 2026

After the second General Meeting of EUNIC, we had the pleasure of visiting the remarkable Sven-Harrys konstmuseum.

We were warmly welcomed by the Museum’s Director, Dragana Kusoffsky Maksimovic, who presented the vision and work of the museum, followed by a guided tour of the current exhibition Life and the Fabric of Rags. We also enjoyed an inspiring visit to the replica home of the artist Sven-Harry Karlsson, located on the museum’s top floor a unique space that brings together art, architecture and personal history.
We also discussed exciting possibilities for future collaboration.
