Copenhagen 🇩🇰

This weekend, Auckland-based theatre company The Rebel Alliance performs at the CPH Stage Festival at Teater V, from Thursday 28 May to Sunday 31 May.

‘WATCHING PAINT DRY’, plays with our notion of time and our relationship with mobile phones. How hard can it be to do nothing for sustained periods of time and how much actually happens when nothing seems to be happening at all? Only one way to find out! watch paint dry! LIVE!’

Audiences are invited to experience the art of watching paint dry, while their phones remain on with the volume turned up! 🎨

Last week the Embassy team visited Ekerö Brygghus, a part New Zealand owned and operated craft beer brewery and taproom in the beautiful Ekerö! 🇳🇿 🍺
Our guide and sommelier Daniel taught us all about the brewing process, and how the brewery uses high quality New Zealand hops in their products. The brewery also makes a range of fun alcohol-free options such as a cola light and iced tea lemonade. It was great to learn about beer craftsmanship and to sample some beverages with distinctively kiwi influences and flavours! Thanks for the tour

Norway 🇳🇴 and New Zealand 🇳🇿 are close partners and aligned on a breadth of issues. 🤝 So aligned in fact, that our Foreign Ministries moved to new offices at the same time - and our respective Ambassadors were even in sync in paying the new Ministry locations a visit! Pictured: New Zealand’s Ambassador to Norway David Taylor at the new Norwegian Foreign Ministry location in Oslo, and Norway’s Ambassador to New Zealand Anne Grete Riise at the new MFAT headquarters in Wellington. 👏🏢 🇳🇴🇳🇿

Last week we were thrilled to welcome Berlin-based New Zealand 🇳🇿 artist BS to Springbeast Festival 2026 in Stockholm! Springbeast Festival is a street art and music festival in Snösätra, Stockholm, running 14-17 May. The festival featured over 90 artists from more than 20 countries, 30+ hours of music, as well as street food, workshops, and activities for all ages.

Ben’s piece is about luxuriating in memories from home, the landscape based on vistas from North Canterbury which he drives through when visiting his parents. Ben describes the scene as ”soupified” in his own distinct organic, liquid style - in the same way that memories can be blurry and inaccurate.

Great to have Ben in Stockholm, and a piece of New Zealand represented among the many international contributions to Springbeast! See more of Ben’s art here ➡️

May is New Zealand music month! 🎶🥳NZ Music Month | Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa is a 31-day celebration of homegrown talent across the length and breadth of New Zealand.
This year’s theme, Our Sounds, Our Spaces, celebrates our music and all the places it is made and enjoyed across Aotearoa; from incredible local live music venues and community halls to schools, libraries, marae, public parks, town squares, all ages spaces and more.

We were delighted to welcome a senior business delegation led by Infrastructure New Zealand to Stockholm and Oslo last week 🇳🇿🇸🇪🇳🇴. Sessions explored infrastructure policy, planning, financing, and delivery, with a range of fascinating Swedish and Norwegian speakers from local and national government, academia, and the private sector, as well as site visits to major infrastructure projects. An excellent visit and example of New Zealand-Nordic exchange! 🤝

The final post for ANZAC Interview Series 2026 consists of the remaining contributions that we had the honour to collect this year. Every year on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember, and to ask: what does it mean to carry this day with us, especially so far from home? The answers we received speak to service and sacrifice, to family stories passed down through generations, and to the quiet pride of belonging to something larger than ourselves, wherever in the world we happen to be.

We deeply thank everyone who shared their ANZAC stories and reflections.

Lest we forget.

Lieutenant Commander Steven Wall, RAN (Australia)
Chairman of the city council Aslan Akbas and 3rd Vice Chairman of the city Council Lisbeth Sundén Andersson

On ANZAC Day Ambassador Taylor visited Öckerö in the Gothenburg archipelago to lead a commemoration of Sergeant J.C. Williams, a New Zealand airman buried at the cemetery. We were delighted to have the support of Reverend Jean-Claude Marclay and Council Representative Jan Utbult. Thanks to Öckerö municipal council, the Swedish Church on Öckerö and everyone who participated in the ceremony for the care they show the servicemen buried on their land. Lest we forget.
