On 5 September 2026, the Embassy of Malaysia hosted its annual Merdeka Bazaar, welcoming approximately 400 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, students and the local community in Stockholm.
Guests enjoyed a variety of Malaysian delicacies and vibrant cultural performances, showcasing Malaysia’s rich and diverse heritage. The Embassy also took the opportunity to promote the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign and invite guests to discover the many attractions and experiences Malaysia has to offer.

The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to all vendors and partners for their continued support in promoting Malaysia and making the annual Merdeka Bazaar a success. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and see you again next year! 🇲🇾🎉

On 3 September 2026, the Embassy had the pleasure of hosting “Taste of Malaysia” with the International Women’s Club (IWC), Stockholm, at the Embassy of Malaysia. Represented by 25 IWC members, the programme featured a batik painting workshop, as well as a cooking demonstration of chicken rendang, presented by Ambassador Sarimah Akbar herself. Besides, the IWC members were also treated to an assortment of Malaysian delicacies, enjoyed together as a fika session.

The Embassy of Malaysia extends its sincere appreciation to the IWC for the opportunity to share Malaysia’s culture and heritage with its members. Also, the Embassy wishes to express its special appreciation to Mr. Ahmad Nizam Alias Ghazali and Ms. Maria Carlsson for their valuable support and dedication in conducting the batik painting workshop, as well as to PERWAKILAN, Stockholm for their kind assistance in making the programme a success.

On 28 August 2026, the Ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm (ACS) visited the Swedish Defence and Resilience Agency (MCF) in Solna, Stockholm and met with Mr. Mikael Frisell, Director General of MCF.

The meeting provided an opportunity for ACS members to learn more about MCF’s work in civil defence, public preparedness and resilience-building initiatives in Sweden, including SE-Alert, the nationwide mobile emergency warning system.

On 27 August 2026, Ambassador Sarimah Akbar, in her capacity as the current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm (ACS), chaired the 44th ACS Meeting at the Embassy of Malaysia.

During the meeting, Ambassador Sarimah provided updates concerning the engagements and activities planned under Malaysia’s Chairmanship, including the proposed 59th ASEAN Day celebration, scheduled for the end of September 2026.
