(Svenska⬇️) Important statement on the upcoming elections in Sweden.
Dear visitors, contributors, volunteers, supporters, and allies of Reclaim Pride Malmö,
We, the organizers, would like to take the time to express our thoughts in regards to the upcoming election in light of the experiences we made whilst preparing and executing this year’s Reclaim Pride in Malmö.
17-23 August 2026, Reclaim Pride Malmö became a refuge: a temporary one, but uncompromising. In filling rooms with solidarity, representation, acts of care, and invitation to exploration, we succeeded in drawing a blueprint for the spaces where we long to live.
Grassroots communities and autonomous zones are proof that there is so much power in the politicized. We can feel it in the opportunistic violence, oppression, and division, but also in the force with which we love, create, and fight. This dialectic makes for a balance in which we must constantly try, if not to thrive, at least to survive. We do our best, too many times over, to explain and make ourselves visible in all the ways we are humans. Worthy of recognition, representation, and radical care. When freedom and justice turn unimaginable, we strive to remember choosing to lean onto our community, which demands the sort of trust that is hard to afford if broken, but is too valuable to renounce.
On the 13th of September, there will be an election. The system we’re trying to operate in is neither kind, fair, nor safe. We, the organizers of Reclaim Pride Malmö, do not hold the belief that the world we want is possible simply by partaking in partisan politics, but we will stand on business (i.e. take care of our responsibilities) when it’s time to vote and hold ourselves accountable in the mitigation of governance. And then we’ll keep fighting.
Please, vote: if not for yourself, for someone whose life might depend on it. Politicians will never save us, but we can vote to hold back the worst of it while continuing to build our communities and alternatives to this white supremacy neoliberal capitalist neo-fascist nightmare.
